Just watched highlights from 2011. OMG, what a defense. Tons of NFL talent. The Offense were freaking grinders. They found ways to get job done.

2011 team could possibly be best college football team of all times. Your thoughts!

Argument to be made that they had the best regular season of any College football team ever.

As good as that 2011 team was, that Miami team of 2001 was the GOAT. I would love to have matched our 2011 vs their 2001 team up just to see

ETA: IMO our 2003 team was our best team ever though

Until a buffoon of a coach ran the same play into an iron wall over and over... and refused to change. He recently confirmed that it was exactly the game plan (an offensive game plan that didn’t work earlier in the year against the red elephants).

Our 2011 squad was better than our 2003 squad

They were both stout teams

But, interestingly, that strategy did beat Alabama during the regular season. At Bama, even. And, that strategy also worked down 14-0 against the Hogs in the last game of the season. And, it worked against Georgia in the SECCG the next game 10-0. He stuck with what worked and they blew away those teams in the games before the NC game. Perhaps it may be understandable why he would stick with the same formula that worked during the most impressive regular season on college football history. Just perhaps.

Our 2003 offense was shutout by a Ron Zook team at home

But we played every one of those other teams only once. Bama put in a few wrinkles . Our game plan was like ready a book same at start to end. I also think that even though Jefferson was more talented we should had gone with Lee. He got us there . I know a lot of peeps will disagree.

I agree. Go back and look at that defensive roster . Looks like a who's who of college football.

Miles left Tuscaloosa in 2011 deluded that LSU was the much better team despite Bama missing 3 field goals. Jim McElwain (Bama's OC in 2011) had the best take on the Championship game. He said they knew LSU was going to do the exact same thing on offense that we did in Tuscaloosa. They changed everything, at least until they got a three score lead. Coaching matters.

Bama should never have been granted the rematch. There isn’t a team in college football history that would’ve beaten them twice in a season.

Actually, what they started with off in that game didn't work. After the turnover he went to Jefferson and started running more option type plays. Still ground and pound, keep away, but still different and he adjusted.

What I don't get it is in the champ game not changing back to Lee to adjust again. I remember being in the dome watching WRs run wide open because Bama knew we couldn't throw it at all. They stacked the box and crushed what we were doing and we just never adjusted at all.

My opinion is the 2003 teams Oline wouldn't had been able to handle the 2011 Dline at all. Way to much talent.

Yeah but that 2003 team’s D line was far more vicious and bloodthirsty than 2011’s.

ETA: 11’s secondary made up the difference.

That was Greg Williams and nobody else responsible for that defensive performance. Saban didn’t have a clue what to do with that option. On top of that the defense eventually wore out. That was that.

Defense def wore out at end of game you could see them half assing it. Couldn't blame them , not sure of time of possession was but had to be huge advantage for Tide.

bammer pit 9 guys in the box and we still couldn’t score. What a sad, pathetic excuse for a game.
