I got scholarship to go to a better school that doesn't have a football team. I've been going to LSU games my entire life, shouldn't make me any less of a fan. I do get inquisitive looks when I wear anything LSU and someone asks me if I know someone there, and I have to tell them I didn't go there.

I took a class at LSU in 1996; therefore I consider myself a tiger and a fan; although I have 2 degrees from other universities.

I, personally would have little interest in LSU if I didn't get my degree there. To each his own though.

Does this bother anyone here?

What does this even mean?

I went to LSU and fans that didn't go there do not bother me in the least. Heck I try to convert them.

it does not bother me, in theory, but it sometimes does on a person to person basis. some fans that did not go to LSU or even go to college view LSU as their professional football team. i have known fans that don't give a damn that the players are students and don't give a damn about the university; they don't love LSU, they love the LSU football team. I also am friends with some people that did not go to LSU but are great fans and realize our players are young adults and students so i do not want to generalize. having a lot of fans that did not attend the university is a mixed blessing; they pay their way and we need that to be a top competitor but there have been times that part of that group has really pissed me off.

ETA: I didn't go to LSU FWIW

It is not uncommon for residents of a state to support the college - they ARE helping to support it one way or the other.

I don't know whether it would bother anyone.

Let me ask this of you - If you went to(are going to) school at Michigan and LSU played Michigan , which team would you support and why?

This would be a good Question for Auburn and Georgia people. Not Tiger Fans.

Our name says it all ... Louisiana STATE University

What? you do realize Georgia is a (the) state university. The big G is everywhere all around this state regardless of affiliation with the unversity.

Accounting. There are not too many opportunities for English majors.

A fan is a fan - regardless of where they went to school. If anyone supports LSU through the lean and good years then I say welcome LSU Fan!

Born in Baton Rouge. Not a graduate of LSU. There are no other college football teams to cheer for. It is LSU or nothing.

At 7 years old my dad took me to see mike and my cousin who pitched under skip Bertman. I bought an lsu hat at the gift shop next to mike that I still wear for big games. Watched my cousin win a national championship. Started going to a lot of football and some basketball games in high school. Then got to see my friend from childhood and Jesuit, Wally, win it all.

When it came time for college, I had full rides to several better schools that fit what I wanted. I spent four years fighting over the fraternity house tv with bama and UT fans at sewanee to watch games. I had to tell off my friends and steal the remote for what turned out to be the bluegrass miracle game. I jumped and screamed alone. I love lsu even more than the saints.

I have a customer who says he loves watching LSU and has never been to a game or even visited the state of Louisiana. He's been following LSU since the late 1960's. He started watching LSU because of Charlie Mac and how coach could play with any team even though LSU had smaller players.

You got me.

I see Marino in your avatar. Do you think Brady will break his "most passing yards in a single season" record this year?

I'm not a Brady fan or anything. I think he's too much of a pretty boy, but you can't deny his talent.

I was grew up in Texas during my later childhood up to college so I did not have a choice. Out of state tuition is a bitch.
