I run around with about 6 - 8 Tiger fans that would join us!

Nothing like getting your drink on with some rowdy tiger fans! I rode my Motorcycle to the Pic Nic last year--I think I am going to have to change that up, b/c I will come prepared to drink Adult Beverages at this years pic nic and cook some good cajun food!

I'm with a group of 10-15 Louisiana folk who would love to find a better spot than Shoal Creek. Alligator Grill or Lavaca would be great, we watched the Hornets playoff games at Alligator and they have a nice projector with plenty of seating.

alright then - I'm going to bump this thread 2 weeks before Appy St - we'll see who's in.

I'll check the schedule and see what's the plan at Lavaca - although I doubt they've thought that far ahead

I have never been to this before. Is it worth it?

Depends...if you like drinking, bbq, being around fellow tiger fans, and outnumbering the people from other SEC schools it's worth it. If you like sitting at home and not drinking...then it's definitely not worth it.

Count me in as well! And Stu, glad to help out if you need it. Only bad thing about Lavaca though, is there is no place for smokers to see the game since they don't have a patio.

nothing - right now, it looks like 3 people are interested - I'm not calling in a favor for a table of 4.

I'm buried for opening weekend, I may not be able to even watch the game.

But if I thought there were 30 solid commitments, I'll call the owner at 3rd Base right now and see what I could do. I wont be able to make it, so I'm a bit hesitant. I asked TomyDingo - if any of you are going to the SEC thing this weekend @ Zilker - ask around, see if there is truly real interest in finding a spot that's not Shoal Creek or a stupid bowling alley.

Update:

(yes, I know we're not playing this week)

I just got off the phone with the owner of Lavaca St Bar and he wants to bring in the LSU alumni for happy hours and game viewings and such.

He will accomodate us by giving us the back room which is considerable. Even if UT is playing at the same time, Horns fans will get the front half, Tiger Fans get the back half, plus, we will have sound.

I made it no secret I'm not a fan of Shoal Creek on gameday, and I think there's a good number of us who dont want to fight the crowd there anymore. So, for all Tiger Fans who want think this is something we can get behind, I'll set it up for the next game and see how it goes. Obviously, if we dont show up in good numbers, the chances that we get the ENTIRE back room & sound for future games isn't assured.

Since I'm no longer a member of the Austin chapter, I dont have the connections with that group. But I assume there are those here that do, and you may know group(s) of people that wouldnt mind finding a second LSU hangout.

I know there is a Happy Hour party next thursday, the 11th at Lavaca. I'll be there, if anyone wants to talk further about this (just ask any bartender, they can point me out), or reply in this thread if you have anything to add.

You'll be there the same way you were at the SEC picnic?

I can't make it on 9/13, but prob for the Aubbie game.
