It speaks volumes to the perception of Miles' brand of football when a TWO point loss to the now #16 team in the country.... (and WI traditionally not a gimme-win any given year)
drops you from #5 to #22....
.....especially with all of the upsets that happened.
LSU's image is being destroyed under Miles right now

I watched LSU beat Tulane 9-6 in 2007 and remain ranked #1 if I remember correctly. They looked a lot worse in that game than they did against Wisconsin and still won a Natty. I am not ready to give up. A loss to JVS will do it though.

Why isn't Houston?
They took it to FSU last year and They took it to ou this year.
I think they can hang with most teams., I don't think they will go undefeated but they earned respect

Glad to see Wisconsin ranked #16. They will be a good football team this year, despite the preseason predictions.
Not because of talent, but because they are well coached and play hard together - something that we have not seen at LSU in a long time.

Not really surprised by where Wisconsin or LSU is ranked.
I'm a little surprised by where Wiscy is. I thought they'd jump into the top 25, and would not have bee surprised to see them around 20. We both moved 16 spots. It seems like if we are 16 spots worse, their win against us doesn't necessarily mean they are 16 spots better.
I have no issue with it, though.

Oh yes there will be teams with multiple losses that most wouldn't expect.....

It was 10-9 LSU at halftime, 34-9 final score

BayouBengals03 this is not reality with the current coaching staff.

No surprise.......they might be lucky to be in the Top 25........

It wasn't the loss, it was how we lost.

Sorry if my memory was wrong, I am getting old, just remembered being disgusted during the game.

Took it to FSU in a bowl game. Beat Oklahoma in a season-opener.
They don't have to prove it week in and week out in the Pac 12, SEC, or Big Ten. It's a lot different beating a team once, when you have a month(s) to prepare for them than it is going through a gauntlet of a schedule like Alabama, Stanford, Wisconsin, etc. will have to this year.
Could they do it? Maybe. But they won't have to. So the committee can't assume they could. And no, I don't think they could, either.
This is a 7-game stretch they have this season:
Texas State (3-9)
UConn (6-7)
Navy (11-2)
Tulsa (6-7)
SMU (2-10)
UCF (0-12)
Tulane (3-9)
That's a combined record of 31-56 last season. They'll play 3-4 games all year against teams worth a shite.

How does Miles still have his job? He is beginning to remind me a lot of John Brady. If they keep him much longer, I might just have to start rooting for the Houston Cougars. That recruiting pipeline may shut down if their success continues. Lol

if wisconsin is #16, a 2 point loss on the road doesn't seem like it should justify being dropped 17 spots. Yeah it was a terrible loss, but that seems like an overreaction.
