I don't understand the animosity toward Fisher on this board. He didn't spurn LSU. 2015 LSU spurned him in embarrassing fashion bc FKing.

2016: LSU scoffed at his asking price. He was there for the taking and LSU chose not to. TWICE.

Let it go

Good post. It really shows the character of the man that is now in charge of our LSU Tigers.

I'll always root for our football team to win every damn game they play. Which means I'll be rooting for o to be a successful head coach while he's at LSU. But I'm not a fan of his and I really never have been.

All that being said.

Agree... LSU didn't want to pay the money he was demanding. He later proved on the market he was justified in asking for it. I sure hope no one is here bashing his salary demands while trying to sell LSU tickets at market price for the Bama game.

We went to TJ Max instead and got a coach. Sometimes you get great deals at TJ Max. Only time will tell.

Jimbo was a likeable guy when he was here but he wasn't very impressive imo. He did well with a Heisman qb at fsu and that's it. He's a good coach, not great but any stretch.

It's only the right thing to have done if O wins the west, the SEC, and a NC. Otherwise, LSU fricked up.

Disagree. Les’s time was up, but I agree if you mean LSU f’d up the hire.

His record at FSU was not that great except for the 2 years with Winston, against teams with far inferior talent than
them except for Clemson. To me, him losing about 3 games a year in the ACC was far worse than Sumlin losing 4 a year in the SEC. Still can't figure out what A & M was thinking giving him that much money.

If Fisher was the HC at LSU now, Orgeron and Raymond are at other SEC schools (Alabama, A&M, Tennessee, Georgia?) recruiting Louisiana. No way Alleva and F King give Jimbo $7.5m and Aranda his deal so Aranda is DC probably at Texas or A&M or in Pac 12.
We’d have Brewster and a DC who’d come for $1m max. Narcisse or J-MAC would be the starting QB. Burrow never comes and Brennan wisely transfers with Jimbo as HC/QB coach.
It would be a disaster.

I guess part of his allure is that he actually got that Heisman QB, along with a couple others that he put in the NFL. And he's transformed Mond from hot garbage into serviceable.

Giving him a 10 year contract was possibly the worst thing they could have done. They will get stuck In a rut, realize it in year 3 and be forced to pay a massive buyout, and redo it. Complete idiots.

As much as I want to believe this and want this to be the case, TAMU has opened up the checkbooks and is giving Fisher a lot of leeway with the program to go and get the personnel he needs. TAMU alums are being hit up for a lot of money right now and they are giving. He is still working with Sumlin's players

Its his first year. I remember some saying the same about bama and Saban in his first season which ended 7-6.

To Saban's credit he got better the longer he was there instead of worse.

Jimbo went 14-10 in his last three seasons at FSU. Yeah, I know FSU had one of the least talented teams in the conference (absolutely no fault of Jimbo).

When you take an untalented team like FSU and go 14-10 over three years in that murderous monstrosity of a conference, you are very, very good.

Hell he was having to play teams like Boston College, Syracuse, North Carolina State, Wake Forest and Louisville EVERY FREAKING year. Holy shite !!! To go 14-10 with a schedule like that is unreal.

In 2015 he lost to Ga Tech and Houston besides Clemson. Those are great teams.

2016 he only lost to Louisville 63-20, North Carolina and Clemson.

2017 he lost to North Carolina State, Miami (Golden coaching), Louisville, Boston College(35-3), and Clemson again.

He is a great coach and ambassador for a program.

Texas A&M football faces NCAA scrutiny from ex-Aggie’s bid for eligibility at Arizona
quote:

The NCAA being alerted to potential wrongdoing at Texas A&M comes at a tumultuous time for college football, which has already endured a scandal-filled month with allegations of a toxic culture at Maryland that has put DJ Durkin’s future in limbo and Urban Meyer being placed on administrative leave at Ohio State while he was investigated for whether he properly handled domestic abuse complaints against one of his then-assistant coaches.

quote:

The allegations against Texas A&M follow the arc of a more traditional NCAA controversy but are underscored by Chancellor John Sharp famously giving Fisher a national championship plaque with the date left open along with his $75 million contract. After firing Sumlin, who had a 51-26 record, the message for what Texas A&M expected was clear: No more messing around in the middle of the Southeastern Conference pack.

"Bring your arse down here and say that" (after a loss to Louisville at home). The 12 year old girl tried to get to the field but her father held her back. Jimbo considered that a win. I think she would have whipped his arse, she was very pissed.
