LSU Depth Chart - Spring Day 3 [1 image]

The following observations were made from watching multiple YouTube videos from various reporters.
[Update: I should have added an injury icon for Colin Hurley.]
Notes:
• LSU is preferring incumbent players over incoming transfers during this first week of practice.
• I did not see Safety Jardin Gilbert. An old report stated that he traveled with the team to the bowl game, but he was not listed on the official Depth Chart at that time. Perhaps there is an undisclosed injury.
• The absence of Jardin Gilbert has allowed for Tamarcus Cooley to be one of only 2 incoming transfers to start from Day 1 (DE Jack Pyburn).
• The DE situation is obviously going to take a while to figure out.
• I separate the SAM position from the SAF(star) position, even though it is the same position. I did this because the position can be manned by either a LB or a DB, and it makes sense in my mind to keep them separated in the event that they have to be moved to another spot.
• Safety Austin Ausberry was participating with the Linebackers during group period. He was the only DB to man the Star position.
• The 2nd rotation at WR was unclear in the videos. I spotted Nic Anderson in group drills, but the videos were zoomed in too much for me to see if he was playing the field side WR spot (and I presume he was).
• The boundary side DT position appears to be manned by Nose Tackle body types. This is normal for a 4-3 scheme, but it can be reversed in certain 3-4 Over/Under shifts that only appear to be a 4-3.

Have been preoccupied with baseball, but is Trey Holly back?

The defense just looks so much more talented on paper this year.
But I think I say that every year and am let down.
(Defense wasn't terrible last year by any means, but I miss having NFL talent)

We’re in trouble at safety. And Ausberry at the star?

On paper, it was pretty damn thin last year. Much better depth this season, in addition to more talent in the starting group.

I like Zavion but I'm expecting to see Nic Anderson win that spot. Nic is a beast and has length...unlike the rest of the starting receivers. Same with AA...he ain't gonna win any jump balls.

I am so sick of the videos being so zoomed in with incredibly fast transitions as if we are inducing a seizure. Let us see some damn football plays. Not the sky with zoom in of the ball and 0.01 seconds of a WR.

I thought they were reports that Chester was moving to guard.
