So does coaching.

Baker is a good coach. Lots of evidence proves that with the year over year improvements he has made in 2 seasons. Only so much you can do as a coach when you do have the players in game that you are forced to play mostly rotational players because all of your best players opted out. Again, that’s not excuses, it’s reality that we did not have the players last night.

No UH does not have the same resources as LSU but they are improving fast in that department. Ever hear of Tillman Fertita? They are spending money over there now and Willie Fritz is a good coach. They are not a bad team and will compete in the Big 12 most years.

The defense wasn’t good last night. It’s not excuses when it’s reality that this team clearly treated this game as a meaningless game with all of the opt outs. UH treated it like their Super Bowl with no starters opting out. The result of this game is meaningless as much as you want to try and say otherwise.

This is disingenuous and you are a miserable fan to be this upset after a bowl game in a season where we fired the coach, have a new coaching staff coming in, and have a ton of opt outs.

It’s ok to be upset but not okay to name call and label people. Sure coaches could have done better as well as many young players. I want to hold the opt outs accountable. Those are the players I’m most disappointed in. Maybe the pro scouts are watching and are penalizing their draft score and status for quitting on their team.

Someone or some organization needs to step in and provide guidelines, penalties, fines, etc for all the pay for play athletes that opt out of bowl games. Maybe make them repay all previous NIL benefits they received for that year. If it’s spent then they have a lien or debt from future earnings till repaid. Problem solved.

That’s pretty much the definition of an excuse

Look, I like Baker and think we will improve. But last night, without some of the best players, highlighted a deficiency that we have already seen in his scheme and preparation.

The result counts like any other game and is therefore, again by definition, not meaningless.

No, it is meaningless you low IQ dunce. My previous posts calling this shanks idiot low IQ is because you two are not using context at all and just looking at result. Context matters and your refusal to understand that missing all these defensive starters matters is why you are being low IQ. So go ahead and get your panties in a bunch about that.

This roster is going to be turned over next year, this coaching staff is going to be different next year, the roster that even played in this game was not the same as it was all season.

Yes, the game counts against your record but who cares, you still didn’t meet expectations whether you won or not. You just feel a little better that hey we won the Texas bowl. Would rather be in that position but we aren’t and it has no bearing at all on anything with this program, so therefore, it is meaningless.

I’m not reading this whole thread to see if it was mentioned, but I think last night showed that LSU spent their money wisely on the important positions on D this year, and that the coordination of lesser talent doesn’t matter as much as the talent.

LSU spent their money on O poorly. Very poorly. For this team to compete for a playoff spot next year will require 6 new starters on each side of the ball. LSU will have to budget accordingly.

They will need to approach the portal combine-like. Kids that are motivated to ultimately be driven by their refusal to accept failure. It is the common thread. Everything else is secondary.

Are you under the impression that excuses are lies?

Do you need me to provide the definition? Or are these emotional outbursts help for you?

No it’s the reality of the situation that LSU were missing our best players on defense last night. That is an indisputable truth. Acting like that is just wahh making excuses for Baker wahh is dumb and not reality. Of course there is going to be a significant drop off in production when your best players aren’t playing.

Last years 2024 Texas Bowl starters who started this years bowl game.

Keys
Stamps
Spears

LSU starters who started the Texas Bowl 2025

Gooden
Guillory
Payton
Cooley
Woodland

So only Gilbert (12 starts at LSU, 22 overall), Singleton, and Butler (2 starts at LSU, 18 overall) were the only players that either weren’t full time starters this year or didn’t start last years Texas Bowl.

So everyone is blaming the loss on those 3 players who have a combined 40 starts in college football.

Lol!

CoNtExT!

Such a great reason to get absolutely embarrassed by the 64th ranked total offense in cfb!

lol what? This might be your worst take of all the bad takes man. Just give it up.

2024 Texas bowl team also almost lost to a worse Baylor team and defense played like doo doo in that game too. Only point you can make from comparing these games is more proof that bowl games are meaningless to these players now and roster turnover will be significant.
