LSU defense vs Bama A&M

No doubt! Chavis defense is suited to stop everyone. There are two requisites, though. Great corners allow you to get numbers in the box, and great DTs allow the small LBs to flow. We're missing the DTs this year. Our LBs constantly have DTs and OLs in their way. Against A&M that wasn't a problem, and as I've posted elsewhere, A&M let us get away with single coverage by not putting the ball up for grabs to Evans.

I think the type of athletes LSU has had from 2011 on at DE are ideal for containing the outside movement of scrambling read option/spread type qbs. Look at the success we've had (in terms of wins and gameplan) vs. Oregon, WVU, Auburn, Texas A&M over the last few seasons.

You need a qb who will run it up the middle to beat LSU's scheme; Cam Newton comes to mind but that's pretty rare to see.

Incredibly surprising performance by the defense.

Rasco, Hunter, and the freshman corners really stepped up. I also saw Jefferson #29 make a great tackle and he was in the game a good bit. Welter, for all his shortcomings, even played at a higher level than usual.

To me Robinson was POTG. He pretty much shutdown and frustrated Evans, who has dominated other quality secondaries. What a performance.

From my seat, that looked like the best defensive performance of the year; especially when you look WHO they shut down. That was the nadir of JFF's career. They shut him down even worse than last year, which was his previous low point.

the reason bama couldn't stop A/Ms passing attack is Manziel could get away from the blitz. Mettenberger is a statue. apples and oranges

All I can say is great game guy's, if we played like this all year we could have be in the NC game.
