It took the NCAA 5-6 years to make a ruling on Reggie Bush and there seemed to be more substantial evidence in that case. What makes you think the NCAA would get it together in a week or two for Cam?
Dream on.

i love it when people bring this up. Two totally different scenarios.

they were investigating 3 different sports at usc. Not just football.

None of this hit the media like a firestorm mid season. You could even argue that because they took so long on that case and the championship and records have been vacated that they are going to me proactive and aggressive rather then reactive and passive.

they did not have near the evidence against usc that they have against auburn.

Oh, this has been being investigated for almost a year anyway. I would bet since pat dye, and lowder got rid of tubs and brought in their puppet the jizz the ncaa has been on their tale. Through the whole recruiting process of lache and others last year, the whistle was blown then.

so yes it's a very real possibility and likely to happen

It's not a matter of if Newton is ineligible and Auburn vacates their wins, loses scholarships, postseason ban, etc.

But when.

I sincerely hope this is wrapped up prior to the 27th.

Hate this. Soon could be a week or a month. I don't want any reports unless they already have the information and they're telling us when they're reporting it.

bump

Get ready.

Think Tennessee with the ball flying past JJ and time running out.

Then, you see a flag and Tennessee has 13 men on the field.

Now, compare that to LSU's SEC and National Championship aspirations.

This is going to be epic.

Will we punch the ball into the endzone to win the game?

Ole Miss, Arkansas, and South Carolina remain.

"As shown in my latest thread, Mike Slive can deem Newton ineligible, due to the breaking of SEC Bylaws."

last week I had a weak moment and thought AU might do the right thing, so I picked GA to win...after Cam played I started thinking..how dumb of me..
FOLLOW THE MONEY !, by the time all is said and done, Auburn may very well be in the NC game...and enjoying the monetary benefits..Cam or no Cam at the helm.
AU may be betting on having the NC game in their schedule if things linger beyond the SEC Championship game.

Truth. If he isn't ruled ineligible by the time Auburn plays their first postseason game, he won't be by the time they play their second.

Watch.

If it doesn't happen, the powers that be decided to just let it all go, which would have reprecusions for the game that would be mindboggling. Can't see that happening.

I just think the SEC drags this out, it would not look good for the conf. at this point.....i.e. post season money. You have a huge TV game coming up in T-Town and major bowl games involving SEC teams, just think they are gonna act on this, if ther is anything to act on.

Mike Slyve doesn't want Cam to be ineligible. This way, his conference can win the national title for the 5th straight year.

1. It will be the NCAA that will declare him ineligible.
2. Cecil admitting to soliciting money is sufficient to make Cam ineligible.
3. I believe there's a decent chance this will happen in the next two weeks.
4. If Cam is ruled ineligible during the season, it forfeits it's games, not vacate them.
5. This will make LSU 10-0*, and we will likely pass Boise St. and TCU in the polls (allowing an SEC school to make the championship game anyway.... Assuming of course that we win out.).

Remember 1984 - Florida actually would have won the SEC but was put on probation in November, so LSU went as the rep to the Sugar Bowl. We tied Florida in the first game of the season.

Things moved quickly then and with the news about the UNC players this week I expect the same for Auburn.

I guess it would be fitting if Auburn won a BCS championship and heisman trophy with an ineligible player since they lost out to Bush's USC team in 2004.

Insightful. Hadn't thought of it that way. Thanks, BhamTigah.

No, it will look really bad to have a
SEC champion with an ineligible player, I hope he will try and resolve this before the game in Atlanta.
