LSU could win it AFTER Auburn won it, making the Tennessee game pale in comparison. Here's how:

Cam Newton declared ineligible (likely)
Miss. St. beats Arkansas (possible)
LSU beats Ole Miss (likely)

Suddenly, LSU is the division champ and people start carrying around Les Miles bobbleheads instead of rabbit's feet for good luck.

I'd say there's about a 50% chance it happens.

LSU vs. S. Carolina in Atlanta. Who you got?

C'mon man. There's no way Auburn is out of the picture at all this year.

If only the NCAA would finish the job before the season is over.

Took NCAA 5 years on Reggie Bush it isn't going to take them 2-3 weeks on Cam Newton

As shown in my latest thread, Mike Slive can deem Newton ineligible, due to the breaking of SEC Bylaws.

Atlanta sports talk radio this am had a BCS guru (name escapes me)...his belief is that NCAA will not dork around b/c Cam is a Heisman frontrunner and Aub is headed to the BCSNCG, theory is that NCAA is aware of time constraints and will not want a situation where the Heisman or the BCSNC team is sullied in anyway...so IF there will be anything I and this guy thinks it will be before the end of the reg season

Even if he is declared ineligible, a 1 loss Auburn is still SEC West Champs unless the team gets reprimanded as well, and the NCAA doesn't act that quickly typically.

I think that is the line of thought here. If he is declared ineligible, wouldn't the team have to vacate any wins in which he played??

Oh don't get me wrong...I don't think he will do a damn thing. Just saying he has the power to. That's all.

I would think they would be forfeited if he is found to be guilty of the charges in the same season. If it is after the fact, then the wins would be vacated.

No, if he's ineligible they'll be forced to vacate or forfeit the wins.

dont make your plans for Atlanta...or anywhere just yet.

in 07 we all witnessed that the last 2 games of reg season and the champ game weekend will have a lot to do with who goes where.

everyone just sit tight and let's worry about arky. i think ole miss gets embarassed this sat

Cam being ineligible and Auburn forfeiting games are one in the same, but not really. Cam being ineligible means he won't play, but I don't see the NCAA forfeiting the games right now.

Um, no. If he is declared ineligible in time, none of their wins while he was playing for them will count.

They would have to do one or the other. The misconduct took place before the season and if Newton is ruled ineligible they'll have to vacate/forfeit every game he played in this year. You can't keep wins from games that an ineligible player played in.
