I posted how dissapointed I was with Miles' raise leveraging tactics and was blasted at the time. Well, how justified does that raise feel now? Should LSU ask for its money back?

This question is more for people who thought it was a professional move and that he deserved more money. Did he?

They won't answer, but the obvious answer was frick no back then and even moreso now.

He was overpaid as it is, and if he felt compelled to seek other offers, especially to Arky, then let his arse go.

Alleva is gutless for not taking a stand. So, did anyone think Miles would have gone to Arkansas? HELL NO! He is permanently entrenched in BR. We'll have to deal with him until the recruiting well runs dry.

Remember all that laughing at BAMA for paying $aban 4 million for 6 wins?

Stay tuned my friends...

Don't worry, Miles is out of future leverage now, it would take a BCS Championship for any future increases. That being said, he is still safe with another 10 win season. Does anyone really think his job is not safe for now??

I agree.
Anybody that believes les miles deserved a raise is high on drugs.
Lots of drugs.

Should have called his bluff. An interim coach would have won us the game yesterday.

No way they should have given him a raise and extension. If he thought he he could make more at Arkansas he should have carried his arse and LSU should have shown him the door. Alleva must force Miles to hire a real OC and that's the bottom damn line. The offensive play calling is a joke and quite honestly, embarrassing, to say the least.

I'm no miles hater but if les came to me and said "I've got an offer from Rkansas and I may go". I'd have said "well it's been a good run Les, good luck over there."

No hard feelings.

Anyone who's worked in a professional environment will recognize how unprofessional it was. You can always ask for and get a little more money. But it needs to be tied to something and leveraging it is the wrong approach.

This is a very scarey thought. I do lean this way. Until Miles does something illegal, or continually has lackluster recruiting, he will be coach. The best thing is to go back (not too long ago) in time as LSU fans and celebrate the victories we can. Yes, we sucked it up vs Bama last year in NC, but we were undefeated in reg season. How many LSU teams in history can say they did that? I know it may be hard, but we need to be at lease try to be more positive.

The hilarious thing is that I don't think Arkansas even wanted him. I've talked to a lot of their fans who thought that would be a terrible hire based on how awful our offense looks. Arkansas needs a coach who can do more with less, because they don't get the talent LSU does. Miles is pretty much the opposite of that.

it's not just a football game when the coach is getting paid as much as he is. after flirting with a "rival"

These are 2 different questions. I don't know of anyone that thinks coaches playing schools off of each other is professional, it is however part of the reality now, and ironically LSU had a lot to do with it when we gave Saban a contract with no buyout.

As for whether he "deserves" a raise or not, judging it based on a couple of games is not the way to look at it. Coaches are not paid on commission. There is a market price for successful coaches. Les had not gotten a raise is while. While I realize the grass looks a lot greener, especially after a disappointing loss and season, it is a lot harder than people realize to replace a guy that has had success like Miles. Sure there are better coaches, but that doesn't mean they want to leave where they are currently. There are also a lot worse guys out there.

My hope is that Les can make 1 more run at a NC with the 2013 and 2014 recruiting classes and then retire before things go stale, like it has for Mack Brown.
