We have Houston on Wednesday who is 8-1 and could be one of the top teams in the American conference along with Wichita State, Memphis, Connecticut and Cincinnati. They've received votes in both national polls and they destroyed Arkansas earlier this season who has been decent so far.

Then we have Stephen F. Austin on Saturday and they are 9-1 and lead the nation in steals at over 13 a game! They also have a whole week to prepare and will likely be a tournament team as long as they win their conference which they should so there could be a chance for a quality win against them this weekend.

Also interesting LSU shoots the third highest field goal percentage in the nation. The two teams ahead of them (Xavier and VT) are a combined 18-2 which is an indicator of a disciplined team on offense. Exciting to hear Wade's focus has been on improving the defense in recent practices. With a marginal improvement on that side of the ball we can be in contention for a bubble spot in the tournament this season.

Any update on Sampson? Hope he can at least come back for some minutes against SFA.

Yes, looks like the home OOC will have some good teams after all.

Houston embarrassed Arkansas. The way our defense has played pretty much all year, at this point in time a win over Houston would seem to be a quality win, and honestly I'd be a bit surprised if we do beat them.

Hope fans realize how big these match-ups are and show up and make noise, team could use the support.

Would be a couple of nice wins for some momentum going into SEC play

Wade said today he doesn't expect him back for Houston. I suspect that would be the same for SFA considering it's only 3 days later.

I think Wade would probably like to get him back for the Memphis game in order to get him some minutes before LSU jumps head first into SEC play vs UK, but it was a fairly bad sprain

I would not count on that...but of course we can all hope.

Did not realize that Houston and SFA were of the quality they are until I studied them a bit. Beating either would be a challenge the way we are defending right now.

This team has already beaten 2 teams that made the dance last year.

I wouldn’t say they’re eliminated from anything yet.

Of course not but the NCAAT is an unreasonable expectation for this group. I’d be elated with the NIT

Yeah, I kinda keep up with UH off and on since I've visited their campus a few times (and watched the Ben Simmons team lose in their building )... Sam Houston I didn't have a clue about until someone brought it up to me, and then again in this thread... I'll be at both for sure (and getting there early because the christmas giveaways don't completely suck )

SFA's record is deceiving. They haven't played anyone worth a shite besides Miss. St (to whom they lost). They are ranked near 150 on Kenpom.com

Houston, on the other hand, would be a nice win.

"In contention for a bubble spot" sounds exactly right for where this program is right now. Average in talent, long on hustle.

Agree. These will be challenging and I hope we can pick up a win.
