Probation with Floyd? Look up the facts. He was CLEARED by NCAA. No show cause penalty either for UTEP. The problem was the AD who had no institutional control. The NCAA even ok'd Mayo going to USC.
Old? Did u see Arizona's run last year? Who led the team? Floyd's signees who the USC AD released and let them go to a school in same conference? Derrick Williams, Momo Jones, and Solomon Hill were Floyd signees. Look it up.
In the last 6 years, "old Floyd" has had 1st round draft picks in Nick Young, O.J. Mayo, DeMar DeRozan, Taj Gibson, Nicola Vucevic, and you could count Williams who signed before the AD let him go to Arizona. Brandon Jennings committed before an Arizona booster bought his mom a house and he was a 1st round pick. Floyd also had 1st pick in Ervin Johnson, Kelvin Cato, etc. Floyd also had Nick Collison and Kirk Hinrich committed to ISU before he left for the Bulls. They were also 1st rounders.
In Floyd's 30 something years of coaching, the only time anyone has claimed wrongdoing was by that convicted felon who mentioned the Mayo "incident" although he said on ESPN that he knew of no wrongdoing with the program before he tried to get a book deal and needed a story. The NCAA thought so much of the "incident" that it wasn't mentioned in the 100+ page report.
He wasn't hired 3 times by the NBA because he couldn't X and O either. You can bet Gathers and Felix wouldn't have gotten away. He has top 100 recruits Twymond Howard and Chris Washburn signed for next year and #1 center Norvel Pelle has Floyd in his final 5. If you could have the #1 recruiting class in Ames, Iowa, and can still get top 100 guys to come to El Paso, what do u think he'd do at LSU?
You've sold me.
And he has ties down here.

If that phrase was around when my cousin told me that story, which happened not too long after the pictures posted earlier in the thread (at Mizzou no less, maybe Eu isn't right for this conference?), that would have been my response.

The age thing is ridiculous. Just 3 years ago he was leading USC to the 2009 PAC 10 tourney championship. BTW, on that team was Leonard Washington, Dwight Lewis, and Marcus Simmons (all top players from Louisiana). Ryan Francis would've been on it also had he not been murdered in B.R. by a bullet not intended for him.
Leonard Washington is at like Montana or something right now. He was part of the Pac 10 exodus to the Mountain West. He's basically leading that team to the NCAA tournament bubble. I remember when we didn't recruit him the only thing that was said was that 'Leonard Washington don't get buck neckid for nobody'.

also note Dwight Lewis was committed to Kansas and Floyd got him to USC somehow

I wouldn't mind Tim Floyd. Bring Papa home finally.
Marshall, Floyd, or the kid at Memphis.

My number 1 choice. Throw the bank at Pastner.

I wouldn't mind Floyd, but it has to be more than "just coincidence" that these sort of things have followed him everywhere he's gone.

Pastner would be bad arse, but I'd think Memphis is a better job.

He's having a great year. Wish we could have him here.

Is Memphis a tournament team this year?
Posted on 3/3/12 at 11:42 pm to BayouBengals03
They won CUSA. 23-8.
I would consider LSU a better job.
Is Memphis changing conferences? That could change it.

I think the programs about are even. Maybe a slight edge to Memphis for what Cal did there recently. But I think if Pastner came here then he could turn us into a perennial top 20 program

Big East in 2013-2014.
I'm not sure why they haven't already been there.

Eh.. I would stay at Memphis then.
But I'd give him a call.

Their 3 losses in conference play were by a combined 5 points.
They are moving to the Big East in a couple of seasons.

why has memphis dropped off since hiring pastner?

Why stay at Memphis ? In the SEC, Kentucky and Florida are the only programs that are clearly ahead of the others. He could come here and turn us into the 3rd best program in the league in a rather short period of time. Potentially.
In the Big East you've got Pitt, UConn, GTown, Louisville, etc...

Because they lost arguably a top 3 coach in the country ?

Because it's a basketball school in a city where the fans actually care about the basketball team.
