LSU basketball doesn't play a ranked opponent until Feb 6

weak
That's not very exciting and leaves very little room for error.
This is a thread where people will try to convince you that Jr-and-Sr-heavy automatic qualifiers from last year are just as strong this year, despite having completely new teams.
They will also (fail to) convince you that even though LSU doesn't play a single top 53 team OOC, those polls don't matter. They know more than sports writers who study basketball for a living and you should listen to them. The schedule is really strong based on their opinion.

You seem like the type of poster who doesn’t start following LSU basketball until November

Sounds like Nick Saban did our scheduling. Mighty nice of him.

Does that take into account the tournament in Orlando because there should be some ranked teams participating in that event?

You're right. I am. I guess that you have known all summer that our OOC schedule was boring.

17-19 wins, every year, rinse, wash, repeat

There is a science to helping a young team progress... pay attention and you’ll see it in action this year

We play UNC Greensboro this Friday who made the NCAAT last year and won 22 games. They are a good team.
We also play Memphis in a week coached by Penny Hardaway, they will be a good team.
We open with College of Charleston at the Advocare invitational who won 26 games last year, made the NCAAT and nearly knocked off Auburn in the NCAAT.
In game 2 of the Advocare we'll likely play Florida State, who is ranked, won 23 games last year and made the NCAAT Elite 8.
There's potential for us to play Villanova in the Advocare Tournament as well, no need to introduce them...
The schedule is filled with some good opponents even before we get out of the Advocare Invitational. But even then we still play Houston and Saint Mary's in December. Saint Mary's won 30 games last year and made the Sweet 16. Houston won 27 games last year and won a game in the NCAAT.

Not boring, and yes I have known what our schedule was since it came out

It sounds like we play a lot of dangerous teams that can beat us but will not necessarily appear to be a great win if we come out on top.

as good as the SEC will be this year, there will be plenty of chances to boost their resume. Road wins in conference will be at a premium; gotta focus on getting 4-5 of those.. 12 losses at .500 or above in the SEC will get you a tourney spot; the dynamic of the conference has changed.

Just because you dont understand the good and not good teams in basketball doesn't mean the people who matter don't.
There are 351 Division I basketball teams, looking at a pre-season Top 25 is downright stupid in determining quality opponents. There's a Top 25 in CFB for a total of 130 teams, use the same ratio in basketball and it should be a Top 68. We will be playing a lot of quality teams and early on.

The SEC will take care of the RPI this year
Much better overall league
They just need to take care of business during non conf play to provide some cushion before SEC play
They play some tough mid major type teams like St Mary's. Even SLU is not a pushover tonight. They have several transfers and players back and they beat SFA, a team that beat LSU last year.

Ok. What if I look at teams receiving votes too? We don't play any teams ranked in the top 53. It's not guaranteed that we play the better teams in the Advocate tournament, although that would be a potential RPI boost.

You can just admit you know nothing about CBB and move on if you’d like.

Penny is obviously getting a lot of hype and I know he's been recruiting well, but I'm not sure how good they'll be. Not that I don't think they could be, I just really don't know. The preseason projections I've seen all have them around the middle of the AAC.
But I agree with your overall point. The OOC schedule isn't that bad.
