(Please, for the love of all that is holy and good in the world, do not Rant this thread up with a bunch of a crap. I would like legitimate discussion of potential candidates. Start another thread for that talk)

The following are names that have been thrown out there by different people. I will add any other names as they surface:

1. Randy Livingston: Former LSU star and current head coach of the NBA D-League Idaho Stampede.

2. Quannas White: Former St. Augustine, Midland College and Oklahoma Sooners star guard. Currently coaching AAU basketball in New Orleans. Was Malik Morgan's AAU coach.

3. Clifford Barthe: Head Coach St. Augustine High School, New Orleans.

4. Dereck Whittenburg: Former NC State star, and former head coach at Fordham and Wagner. (Tigerbait put this name out)

These are the only 4 names I have heard associated with the job.

I am tired of the Randy Livingston hard-on that everyone has. Also, I have no interest in a high school coach or an AAU coach. Nor do I have any interest in anyone over the age of 120 (this rules out Tex Winter and Lynn Nance returning)

on a less rantastic note, I hope the guy has La roots. The 1st 3 in the op would satisfy that

Randy wants to be here. Trent doesn't want him. Let's put the Livingston issue to bed for now...

Guy has a successful high school program and a pipeline of talent......why get on Johnsons sinking ship?

None of this is fact, just opinion.

I'd love to get Randy Livingston but Trent would have to put some ego aside and let an LSU "good ole boy" into the BBQ gang and I don't think he's ready to do that

Even the best high school coaches rarely get a college opportunity. Perhaps he wants to take the jump? He can always go back to high school, but may never get another chance at college.

It's only a rumor that he's a candidate, anyway.

I've never seen a shread of evidence to indicate otherwise. Until then, I will consider it opinion.

He could get a similar or better HS job the very next year if he wanted. But if he passes up an offer like this, he may not get another in a long time.

Bubba -- Have Livingston and White been brought up by anyone other than people here noting there "wish list"? I know Barthe and Whittenburg have been named by insider sites, just curious as to the first two.

Also - someone sticky this so we can keep it on the first page until we get a hire. TIA.

The only one I've seen named is Whittenburg. I saw someone reference Barthe, but I didn't see it myself.

Randy is like the Jon Gruden of assistant basketball coaches. Even if he's dead, he's on the candidate list.

White is a "tip o' the hat" to S, who threw his name out. He does have a connection to Malik Morgan, so that could be legit. I saw where Quannas White was throwing a big Final Four party in New Orleans, with bottle service and chicks from Basketball Wives and Next Top Model. Dude's a PLAYA.

I'll leave that to the professional reporters covering LSU, if there are any. (which means we will find out when lsusports.net has a press release on it.)

You should actually call him. Tell him you are interested in repping college coaches on the rise, and you heard his name thrown out in conjunction with LSU's opening. See if he takes the bait.

Bubba its a fact RL is out twice by TJ, believe what you want. I am a more horses mouth person than internet researcher. TJ has bigger problems than trying to hire an assistant.

So Livingston told you that himself? Wow, that is big.

There's good discussion on Hamilton in the other thread about the St Aug HC.
