finish in the top 3 in the SEC, win the SEC tournament, lose in the sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament

I think the sky is the limit for the team next year. Going in we wont be as respected as UF or especially UK...but they both lose more this offseason than we do. Obviously UK is bringing in an absurd class, but as talented as they will be, can they have enough leadership step up to put them back over to the 2012 Championship team?
The talent and depth on our team for next year easily rivals that of our 2006 F4 team. A few breaks go our way in the NCAAT, no telling how far we go.
JOB III = Big Baby
Hickey = D.Mitch
Martin = TT
Mickey = Taz (ok a little weird comparison there, maybe another TT)
Quarterman = Temple
Odo = Lazare
Then we still have Stringer, Coleman, Morgan and a hopefully improved Hammink.

I don't know about the 06 team, but what I will say is next years team should actually have some depth to go along with a great starting 5. IMO we aren't losing much off of this team. Carmouch plays a lot and has been great, but to me will be easily replaced. Ludwig doesn't even play. And Del Piero is only really in there because we have no depth down low. He might even be back anyway. Add in the class we have coming in and we have the best team 1 to 12 that I can remember LSU having.

If Del Piero goes to grad school i bet he can get a 6th year (considering he never played his first 2, lol)...and maybe go back to being a walk on? If not and he stayed on the team, we'd have to lose a current player to attrition to make room for a scholarship for him.

Roster should look something like this
1 Hickey 1 Tim Quartermain
2 Malik Morgan 2 Andre Stringer 2 Corban Collins
3 Shavon Coleman 3 Jalen Courtney 3 Shane Hammink
4 Jerell Martin 4 Jordan Mickey 4 Deng Deng
5 JOB 5 John odo 5 Darcy Malone
Every guy on here is pretty much SEC caliber and we probably have 2 SEC quality starting line ups. It really is unbelievable what he has done. How many players can we even have? Is Deng Deng not supposed to make it?

Deng Deng is not going to be a Tiger, many factors but the main one being is that ge is not good enough in relation to next years talent level, this year yes.

Yeah, I figured when we took Malone that was the case. Still, to have 13 guys that can all play is something we would have thought unrealistic at this point a year ago. We will actually have a ton of size next year and will be able to go with many diff types of lineups. If JJ goes out and lands another big time recruiting class for 15, LSU basketball will officially be back on the map.

Just letting you know both the 2014 and 2015 bball recruiting classes are already looking more promising then when TJ was coach. Both are loaded with elite players that fit the mold of an athletic versatile player that can get up and down in transition. 2014 could be and should be better than 2013.

That is great to hear.

I personally didnt like some scholarship offers and still havent made up my mind on Darcy Malone gotta see him in action first, but I believe in CJJ. They jury is still out on Hammink and Collins that is why I am hesitant about Malone. Some people just assume every freshmen LSU gets should be ready to play in the SEC just isnt true, wish both could have redshirted, I know I am probably the only one but I like Collins, he works hard, has good size for a PG/SG and is a much better shooter than Chris Bass was. Not every player needs to score in double figures to be a good player.

Malone is an Athletic 7 footer from what I can tell. He is raw, but those don't grow on trees. I def. think he is a take. Hammink was worth the risk at the time. We needed anyone we could get after last season ended. I honestly beleive had TJ stayed we would have won like 8 games total this year.

Malone is good in that it officially opens up the pipeline to Australia with David Patrick and can only help with Ben Simmons and Dante Exum. I am just glad that Malone isnt the only big we have coming in because take Hammink for example he is not a bad player just is still getting used to American basketball and the level of competition, for others they may say well its like 20 games now its not that, its changing a whole lifetime of basketball sense and style. Do I think Hammink/Collins/Malone see the floor much in 2014 probably not is that a bad thing hell no. With TJ dont get me started just didnt work. If Calvin Godfrey is on this year team NCAA tourney team IMO.

When I see what this staff is getting out of Tuba, I am very optimistic about what they can do with Malone. Malone is a much better athlete and has 4 years. Malone's video shows he can hit some mid range jumpers now. You can't teach 7'1, but you can coach it up. I like this commit.

Tuba wasn't even worth being on our team last year IMO, this year he has earned a scholarship. He would be on many SEC rosters actually. He isn't starting quality, but he def helps us. Jones has coached everyone way way up.

HIGHLY UNLIKELY.

I don't pay attention to the NIT at all
But LSU should. It gives them SOME experience in a tourney where its win or go home. This WILL help this team.

Yes, I know it is much much better for our team to make the NIT vs not making it. Just those extra practices and the extra experience. I'm just saying, if we go to the NIT I'm not going to pretend I am all excited about it. This team was supposed to be a dumpster fire, and for us to make the NIT would be a huge accomplishment though.

To be honest if our class was stacked next year I wouldn't mind running the NIT for 5 years. But I expect a bid at the ncaa tourney next year. I hope CJJ doesn't load up our schedule. We need a couple tough teams but we also need to roll over some cupcakes to keep the morale up. About Malone he reminds of a raw JOB. He will need 2-3 years to become a good player but i think I would trust him off the bench and be a solid role player. A step up from Tuba if you will. But I am stoked for next year!

I would be extremely dissapointed with an NIT bid next year. I think we will be good. Malone will probably come in a better player then tuba is now, so by the time he leaves there is a good chance he will be an NBA prospect. Like I said earlier, 7ft guys that are athletic do not grow on trees.
