Every time I think about the football program it pisses me off so let’s mix it up a bit. With fall baseball practice getting geared up to start this week what is your best guess at the opening day line up come February?

1B Morgan
Jobert DH
Beloso DH
2B Doughty
SS Thompson
3B Berry
Leto UT
LF Dugas
Pearson
CF Bianco
Gio
RF Crews
Drost
C McManus
Milazzo
Priester

Good thing is lineup will have options and starting spots will be earned
Some position players will likely be hitting the portal

Big question mark will be on the mound and how they figure out the starters and the roles

Doubt we see a fall roster with nine cuts to be made
Writing is on wall for some players and majority of cuts are likely coming from position players where you have logjams

I forgot about Priester already. I think Stevenson will get some looks early in the OF, too.

Would multiple times a day be periodically or obsessively? Asking for a friend.

Project: what kind of role do you foresee Drost playing? The dude has untapped power.

I don’t know if 40 man roster is the limit, I posed that question to my son who said his D1 college carried 52 last year, they have 53 this year. I told him his coach was going to have to cut 13 players he said no dad he will not. So is 40 man roster the limit now? I did read 40 man was the limit for NCAA baseball D1

Morgan - 1B
Crews - RF
Berry - 3B
Dugas - LF
Doughty - 2B
Thompson - SS
McManus - C
Bianco/Pearson - DH
Gio - CF

DH spot is the one up for grabs the most Imo.
This could be the best hitting lineup we’ve seen since 2009:2017

There are so many positions that will change so I'll label my favorite hitters and see if they can figure out a lineup from there.

Berry 3B?
Crews RF?
Doughty 2B?
Morgan 1B?
Dugas LF?
DiGiacomo CF?
Drost/Jobert DH?
Thompson SS?
anyone who wants to play catcher

He will be in the OF/DH mix, it’s just super crowded. Hopefully they can find a way for him and a few other guys to get 35-40 games and keep their development going. If guys like him, Leto, Simon, etc are patient, they’re in prime position for next season.

If the offense comes out and bashes these cupcakes on the schedule, they will be able to play a bunch of guys and set up next year nicely.

Need to move Doughty to the 5 hole and push Berry and Dugas up. Consensus by fans seems to be wanting to flip Crews and Morgan as well. Will be interesting to see what happens since Crews had so much success in the leadoff last year; however, I'm pretty sure he batted 2nd or 3rd all summer before getting hurt.

I want to see Crews in front of Berry. You can pitch around one, but not both of them. Crews would see some better pitches then. I could see Doughty or Dugas behind Berry.

Tre Morgan needs to bat leadoff ALL season, IMO.

The roster was unlimited last year
This year it goes back down to 40
And my guess is it goes down to 35 the following year
