It’s amazing how many people are clueless that revenue sharing maximum is capped this year at $20.5 million and almost everyone settled on the 75/15/5/5 distribution model for the first ever year of revenue sharing. I’m sure schools will tweak/adjust in the future, but it’s not some endless well of funding.

And like someone already mentioned, let’s say baseball got 5%, which I don’t think even State gave baseball. 5% of 20 million is 1 million. That, divided by 34 scholarship players is $29k. We didn’t lose a player over $29k with the NIL packages we provide

and KY

I’m guessing KY allocated more to men’s basketball. That’s done wonders for them

Uhh, maybe because football is the ultimate money maker of any sport and it’s not even close. Thats why Lane could spend $40 million on a roster in FOOTBALL. College baseball is the red headed step child of the university apparently. Mississippi State spent 3.5 million on their baseball roster. Jay barely had $1 million to work with for his at LSU. So think about that.

If you honestly believe that, you should look for your closest...

Yeah I’m aware of that jackass. If that is the case what is Jay so upset about? Answer the question I asked

Listen clown, It's not rocket science: Jay's likely feeling the squeeze after delivering nattys and elite classes, only to see revenue share dollars (capped school-wide) funneled more toward hoops to make them relevant in the new era. Basketball lacks the same deep, guaranteed booster/NIL pipeline baseball enjoys - those heavy hitters show up for diamond talent regardless.

Baseball's gonna eat either way through collectives, ticket revenue, and the program's proven draw. An extra sliver of rev-share might help Jay a bit, but it's peanuts compared to what NIL already provides (LSU's reportedly top-tier in baseball NIL anyway). Hoops needs the direct institutional boost to compete nationally without relying solely on hoping boosters step up like they do for baseball.

Fair? In a perfect world, maybe baseball gets more priority. But the decision-makers chose to prioritize the sport that's historically a money pit on campus over one that's already self-sustaining at a high level. I'm fine with it - football and now basketball need the help to keep up. Jay's shown he can win championships with what's available; I'd rather shore up the weak links than spread thin across the board.

If that's still 'jackass' logic to you, cool. But connect the dots instead of just slinging names.

Others have said 13? Whichever it is - LSU portal ranking was no. 1 in the country by both Baseball American and ON3 so at least in the eyes of folks who rate such things for a living we managed to do well whatever the revenue share.

I'll add that LSU baseball is in a better position to raise funding outside that revenue share funding than the vast majority of SEC schools or for that matter any other school in the country for baseball....because we care more here.

Then why is Jay so upset about not having more revenue share? The comments he made make it seem like LSU has no commitment to baseball.

He is doing what any coach for any sport on campus would do - fight for every dollar he can get to help his program.

He knows what he has here - he's coached at Arizona and he knows first hand how much more LSU cares about baseball and puts into baseball compared to almost every school in the country. He just wants every edge.

But he needs to save that talk now for the offseason - go after that extra dollar then, time to get the guys you have on the roster now to play better.

And even if baseball got its own individual 5% it would only equate to one million or so. Baseball gets much more in NIL. The real issue I have is no one actually does their own research to learn anything before yapping about a sound bite.

Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner of this thread.

Jay has money. Even the best talent evaluators miss sometimes. This looks like one of those years. Let’s see if the pitching staff can start throwing strikes
