They might as well not even have WRs

Looking ahead to next week, if Iowa keeps their rotation the same we will face Brody Brecht. Big time prospect out of high school. Could touch triple digits. Also plays WR on their football team, I guess as much as anyone plays WR on Iowas football team.

I'll be there and look forward to watching him pitch.

Right. I don't think Jay and Wes are looking ahead to Texas. When we go to Round Rock, we're not going to walk all over those teams looking ahead to Texas. Kansas St will swing it and run some good arms out there on Friday, Iowa will be solid, and Sam Houston will scrap.

Looking forward to kicking off opening day with Ok St and Mizzou tomorrow.

K-state is starting a D3 transfer tomorrow, we would face him if that holds.

Yep. Big, smart, athletic dude that has shredded everything in front of him in high school and D3. Kansas St should hit it a bit, too.

ETA: Iowa, on the other hand, probably won't hit much. They'll be solid, though.

Tucker Toman's MTSU Blue Raiders are up 8-0 on Ben Nippolt's VCU Rams in the only game going right now. I'm changing the title of the thread to make it a game day discussion thread as well.

Primary focus will be on SEC and LSU opponents.

LINK - Mizzou/Ok St game tracker.

Okie St starting Jauron Watts-Brown, transfer from Long Beach that we took a look at in the portal. He's electric.

Anyone know if LSU puts out a game or series "notes" for baseball like they do for each football game? TIA

They don’t plan anything ahead of time. Pressure washing around the gates flooding the area 4hrs before game

They do, they're not as easy to find as they used to be though. They're linked on the preview page here: LINK. They're in the list of links in the black section in the upper left of the page.

It's a new season, so I'm testing out SECN+ now... seems to work OK, I can see the swimming/diving champs just fine.

ETA: Nothing's happening now, in case you're wondering. Just some warmups.

I see Watts-Brown got out of the inning after allowing a lead off 2B to Trevor Austin. Austin is a draft talent.

I just saw a headline about Tennessee transfer OF Griffin Merritt from Cincy. He was the conference player of the year in the AAC (I think). He's suspended the first two games of this season because of comments he made about umpiring at the end of last season.

Based on SEC umpiring, we may never see him in conference.

I’m sure the Tennessee baseball culture will make him more mature and mellow.

So this Brady Miller guy starting tonight last pitched in 2021 and he went 45.2 IP, gave up 78 hits with a .370 BAA, 46 ER and struck out just 34

A .370 BAA, and that's your Friday night guy.

Wow. I hope we can feast off this guy

The kid pitching for Mizzou right now has faced 7 batters and K'd 5 of them. Neubeck is his name, not very familiar with him but he's putting on a show right now.

ETA: 2.1 IP so far, 8 BF, 6 Ks.
