I told somebody this an hour ago IRL. Although I do think they'll both sign at the 59th minute of the 11th hour.

That usually means huge contracts because MLB doesn't want to let those numbers out too early and other teams the opportunity to escalate them.

I think our best hope at this point is that the Rays throw the house at Guerreri and don't have enough left in the bank to meet Mikie's demands.
Being that Guerreri was their first pick and is still unsigned, it's not necessarily out of the realm of possibility.

They got a bargain on a lot of the guys they already signed though. Garvin only went for $370k. I guess there is still a chance, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

(I'm actually getting my hopes up a little the later it gets even though I know deep down he ain't comin back)

There is a rumor going around that he is going to a JC next year so he can be eligible again.

Recruiting in baseball has to be a headache for coaches. Yours always going to sign 2 or 3 guys you don't think will make it to campus. You've just got to do it because of their talent, just on the chance a team won't pony up the money the recruits want.

Then there are the guys who are borderline. You know they should get frayed in rounds 10 to 15, but they assure you they're coming to school. Do you believe them? Still gotta sign a few of them, right? Some work out and some don't. You do the best you can.

Frustrating. You want to sign a really good class, but if it's TOO good you get penalized. Can you imagine if college football were the same way?
