Yeah...yeah...yeah...
All of you could do so much better.

Hell most of you couldn't string two sentences of proper English together if your lives depended on it.

Please dont flame me because I know this subject has been covered before. But I forgot. Why does Hawthorne say call Alex Edward Elec? I want to punch him in the face every time he says sacker too. The other dude knows baseball, but he's a terrible announcer.

im glad they dont have kevin ford doing the baseball games. that would be 3 hours of nonstop complaining about the umpires, as opposed to his 2 hours of nonstop complaining about the basketball refs

My favorite response, and one that is brought up every time. Because I'm not a professional sports broadcaster, Jim should call baseball terribly forever. Makes sense.

Since I really don't have anything to compare to, I think Tiger baseball on the radio is good. I certainly have listened to many more games than I've seen and still love it. The Tigers are my team and Jim is my guy.

because thats how alex is pronounced in alex box so apparently now hawthorne thinks all alex's are pronounced that way.

eta: well technically its pronounced alec, so thats where he gets the c from in elec. not sure about the e.

People been bitching 'bout LSU announcing literally since I can remember, and I'm 47. My dad used to bitch about Ferguson....

"He's hit at the 20 and falls foward to the 37.".

Personally, I loved Ferguson then, and love Hawthorne now. It has less to do w/either's skill set, and more to do with the fact that I know he's our guy. I don't want unbiased announcing when I'm listening to a radio broadcast. I want someone that get's as pissed as me when we lose/are losing. Hawthorne does that, so he's fine in my book.

Makes about as much sense as all of you crybabies beotching and moaning after every baseball game.
Boo-hoo he missd a call, sob he made a mistake, whine he mis pronounced a name.
How are you superior?

if you really want to see how bad it is, watch a game on geaux zone and really pay attention to what he says. it really is comical. pitches that are inside, he says are outside. fly balls down the third base side are popped foul to right. i know its small, knit picky things but it just falls in line with him constantly screwing up calls.

I think Jim Hawthorne makes the radio broadcast interesting. You know he will end up arguing over the rules of baseball and how things have changed over the years while also not making the right calls in the game. It is fun to hear Bill Franques have to correct him like a son would correct his old pop. It makes for interesting radio, imo.

Would you rather some young punk that "knows it all" and calls the game without a sense of personality? I know I wouldn't.

That being said, the other night I heard a classic during the Friday night game, I think it was Franques but don't quote me on this, he said that he went to school and graduated with Shaq so between the two of them, they have 4 NBA championships and $500 million dollars. I thought that was funny and, until now, didn't know how to add it to a thread.

Bill Franques is the best of the three. It's a shame he doesn't do home games. Oh, wait...there's a reason for that.

I don't bitch about Jim very often at all, and there's a difference between complaining about every little thing and admitting that someone is objectively bad at calling baseball games.

I'm not superior at calling baseball games on the radio. I'm also a worse football coach that Curley Hallman, a worse basketball coach than John Brady on his worst day and a worse baseball coach than Smoke could dream of being. LSU shouldn't hire me to do any of those things and that has zero bearing at all on whether Jim is bad at calling baseball games. He is.

It's not because of mispronouncing names sometimes or missing a call every now and then. It's literally every single game, leaving the audience not knowing what's actually happening. Watching on geaux zone again this year has opened my eyes to how horrendous it truly is.

Like I said, I've got no problem at all with what he does with basketball, and I'm neutral on football because I never have to listen.

I won't complain about "Elec Edwards" or a mistake every now and then, but when you're relying on the radio broadcast, it'd be nice if he could relay what the frick is going on.
