I hear that Jones is looking real hard at entering the NFL draft. He and his baby momma are ready to get a paycheck.

chad jones will play baseball.he has to have guys telling him about his future.baseball and football.im sure he will be drafted in the top 2 rounds in football but 92 mph fastballs from the left side are 1st round and big money for baseball

I sure hope you are right. I'd hate to think that we've seen the last of Jones on the mound. I am just hearing otherwise.

I just saw this thread and I disagree on some of it
I think Keonenman will start DH and Jones will beat out Watkins for RF.
The day Watkins starts at RF I will leave this board. With guys such as Mahtook and Dishon who have stronger arms Watkins will see time at LF and CF.

What do you know about this kid Rittiner?
Rittiner actually had an outstanding fall and will be the 2nd lefty coming out of the bullpen.

You are correct. Mahtook will be in RF because he's got the best arm of the top 2 OFs (Landry, Mahtook, and Watkins). Watkins will likely be in CF because he is supposed to have the best wheels.

if he gets on track with football he'll make a lot more money and will not have to deal with playing in the minors.
Im not sure why everyone says he's going to play baseball, or that he is some sure fire stud. Until he fully commits to baseball like Jared Mitchell did going into last year, he wont be a high draft pick.
"92 from the left side, blah blah blah blah..."...the dude has like 10IP under his belt, its not time to anoint him as anything. He has great upside as a pitcher and as a hitter, but shite, come on.

This. With his family situation (i.e. he needs money to support his kid NOW) he probably won't want to spend 5+ years in the minors making 20-40k a year when he could make pretty big money right off the bat in the NFL. As a side note, has there been any word on how Alex Edward and Wes Luquette have been playing? I thought that they were pretty highly touted and I really haven't heard anything about them thus far.

I know there were some rumors of Dishon working out at third during the fall. Did this ever happen?

Not too sure about Edward, but Luquette is redshirting this season due to injury.

with his tools he will get a big signing bonus and a 1st rounder.just on his potential.if i were him id try to play both sides and see who pays the most money.i see him playing of and pitching.

I agree with you here. With his size and speed, all he has to do is perform well in the combines and he's gonna get drafted high enough to get some good money, his lackluster football season notwithstanding.

I don't get this either. He is not a proven commodity in baseball. The NFL will give him good money now because he's big and fast. I hear that he's ready for a paycheck now. I hope I'm wrong, but I think he's gone.

i think he would make a great linebacker
Posted on 12/28/09 at 7:56 pm to tigermike200444
same here, he need to shed like 10-15 lbs to be an effective safety in the NFL. Even at that point he'll prob have to play SS.
He could gain 5 or 10lbs and be a badass LB.

Safety or linebacker, I don't know. I really hope that I'm wrong and we see him on the mound in the Box in the spring.

either way lsu will be good in baseball.if jones played though he would help add depth both with the bat and as a pitcher.hes so talented that im anxious to see what he actually does.he is in a no lose situation

I would love to see him on the baseball field next year. Although, as Lester points out, his pitching resume was limited, he did appear to have serious potential as a LH reliever. As for the bat, we really don't know whether he can hit a curveball thrown by an SEC pitcher.

Dishon had previous time as a backup catcher, but his natural position is in the outfield. If there are problems at 3rd base I think Hanover would switch over.
Luquette will redshirt.
Edwards and Katz redshirts pending. I think Katz will see time backing up 2nd/3rd, he's scrappy for a freshman.
