LSU No. 1 in Baseball Recruiting Ranking
BATON ROUGE, La. – LSU is No. 1 in the 2018 Baseball America magazine recruiting ranking released on Wednesday, marking the Tigers’ fourth No. 1 designation since 2007.
LSU has now finished in the Top 5 of a recruiting poll seven times in the past 12 seasons, and the Tigers are in the Top 10 for the 11th time in the past 12 years. The Tigers have finished No. 1 in the recruiting ranking in 2007, 2010, 2014 and 2018; No. 3 in 2009; No. 4 in 2012; No. 5 in 2017; No. 7 in 2011, 2015 and 2016; and No. 10 in 2013.
The 16-man recruiting class is composed of nine pitchers and seven position players, and it contains seven players that have been chosen in an MLB Draft – outfielder Giovanni DiGiacomo, catcher Saul Garza, left-handed pitcher Easton McMurray, right-handed pitcher Landon Marceaux, right-handed pitcher Cole Henry, right-handed pitcher Jaden Hill and catcher/outfielder CJ Willis.
LSU led all schools with eight recruits listed on the 2018 Baseball America Top 500, which is made up of all draft-eligible players.

Great class and we were fortunate to get most of these guys to campus.

It's one of the deepest classes we've signed in a while. Extremely strong pitching class.
I'm a little concerned for the season not having any catchers with D1 experience. But there is a ton of talent at the position and two guys coming in from JUCO.
There is a ton of power in the position player class as well. Willis, Garza, Beloso, and Dugas can all hit for power. Beloso is going to be one of the better hitters for average as well.

Has to be an upgrade from last year.

We're fricking stacked this year.
STACKED.

0 titles in what will be 10 years...all that matters.

Not sure on Ole Miss. But the guy that was bringing in all the top classes at Arkansas and built the roster that took them to the finals is now the Head Coach at Tennessee.
Tennessee wasn't in the top 25 either, which surprised me some. But they brought in a bunch of JUCO guys and also lost some of their top guys to the draft. Their roster is going to be significantly better this year over last though.
Georgia isn't on the list either and that's damn near criminal. The amount of talent in state should keep them in the top 15 every year. They did add a big time pitcher that passed up the draft. They also got a grad transfer from UNO, John Cable. He was a JUCO all American before getting to UNO, but got hurt last year and redshirted.

You’re a pusssy. This isn’t the 90s. No one is winning 5 in 10. LSU will be lucky to make 5 CWS in the next 10

I want national titles as well and we should continue to expect them, but this isn't the national college baseball landscape that Skip had.
There is a ton of talent and parity all over the country now.
Over the last 10 years we've have several Omaha visits, a national #2 finish in Omaha, and several SEC titles.
If you were UK basketball, would you fire John Calipari?

Elite recruits are necessary for that

I was thinking more of winning 2 of 10 which is perfectly reasonable

PP, I remember reading a news release from LSU Baseball a couple of months ago that said we had 17 incoming signees this fall.
I see in the OP's quote from the article that there are 16 new players.
Did I mis-remember the 17 number?? If not, do you know who didn't make it to campus?

Whenever you're wondering why people don't take you serious I want you to remember this post

There are 13 freshmen, 2 sophomores from JUCO, and one JR from JUCO.
The 17th player may be the transfer from Tulane. He wouldn't be counted by Baseball America, but definitely would by LSU.
There are no incoming players that were announced over the summer that aren't currently on the roster. We're still at 36/35.

Where’s Oregon State, you’d think they’d be up there, aside from the pedi stuff..
