As bad as things feel right now after blowing the weekend series against Ole Miss and taking control of our SEC West fate, and a constant barrage of injured pitchers in the training room, we are better than you might think.

And I know stats change each season but we have had many of the same guys the past three years so it is a nice statistical comparison of the last four seasons

Unfortunately, if we don't get pitchers back healthy, I don't think this season will end with a satisfactory result.

I was looking at some stuff last week regarding the team slash line compared to prior years and wondering why out run scoring was way outperforming the rest of our hitting statistics. I had a more broad XBH per game rate instead of drilling down specifically on HRs. But that must be why we're scoring more runs than it seems like we should be.
ETA: I wonder if the comparatively lower steal attempt rate is also having slight effect on team hitting stats. We aren't making as many outs on the bases because we aren't trying to steal as much, so all of those are coming at the plate lowering AVG and OBP (slightly, I would guess).

Agreed, but I think the disappointment has been that this is the culmination of those young players now being seniors, along with the young guys. This was the year, plus we kept a few guys we thought were gone.
This team was expected to be much better than the last few years, not the same.

CPM is the one that said last week’s series was crucial to hosting a Regional.

Every weekend series is crucial to hosting a regional.

Thank you for taking the time to post this. I'm going to post a few things on my thoughts here.

When you have guys like Duplantis who made a living off of hitting gappers his first three year trying to hit home runs, this is what happens. Our Teams Average and doubles are down but Homers are up. I think this is our problem hitting. We are swinging for fences and not putting together hits consistently.
Sac Flies
2019: 30
2018: 20

2016: 22
Stolen Bases

This proves it more. Sac Flies are great, as are Homers... But we have very fast players who aren't getting on base to steal. Or gets on base and the next batters fly out. We are flying out trying to kill it instead of placing the balls in the gaps or hitting singles.

But we are progressively getting worse. So, that’s not a good thing.

Singles! Look at the doubles and low stolen base totals. It’s pathetic that we don’t even try to steal half the time. We have enough speed to be better than this

perfect stats to show how pm has under achieved

Dynamite insight! You should go talk to Alabama or Kentucky fans before saying that. I mean, we are 3 games out of 1st place in our division with a series vs Arky this weekend that could determine our fate.
