I would have Nola, McDonald, Coleman, and not sure who else as pitchers.

I don't think Coleman gets enough credit, but he was so valuable being able to do whatever was needed on that pitching staff.

DH- Raph Rhymes (junior year)

I think he finished the season somewhere close to .450 BA and an OB% close to .500

Not to take away from Pontiff’s legacy, but we’re putting a team together.

Very hard to argue with most of this list- especially after reading the article. The only change I might suggest is Jason Williams at 3rd base for Dunn. Cresse probably stays at catcher but Micah Gibbs was excellent also.

Jason Williams seems to be the forgotten baseball Tiger. When he left LSU he was the all-time SEC hits and runs leader. Also according to a Skip Bertman radio interview a few years after he retired, JW had the highest fielding percentage in a single season at both 3B and SS during Skips tenure. In the same interview the host asked which player he’d choose to be batting with the game was on the line. Answer... “JW”
For those reasons I’d have him ahead of Barbier at 3B.

But really this list is impossible!

You forgot Brandon Larson.

The paradox of "Larson or Bregman?"

Larson: One near perfect season at LSU with 40 HR's and a first round draft pick.
Bregman: Three solid seasons at LSU both at the plate and in the field, and the second pick overall.

Larson: Legendary bomb against Rice ultimately leading to MOP award and a ring while playing on one of the finest college baseball teams ever.
Bregman: Booted routine play against UCLA leading to a first round loss and ultimate doom in the Series.

Larson: Tragic underachieving pro career hampered by injuries.
Bregman: Already a superstar in the Majors.

they don’t make the top 10. May be local hero’s, but every pitcher on my list were absolute beasts. Preever had the best season of any of them outside of Nola. Had to pick 10 just like a regular roster.

Bregman - you said it....THREE solid seasons to one all-world season by Larson.

Bregman - no contest IMO

Picking a starting team is very difficult at some positions, but I don't see how anyone could leave off McDonald/Nola as starters, Belle (OF) and Walker (2B). Furniss probably has to be there at 1B.

3B, C, DH and two OF positions are arguable.
