I'm still curious as to why Barash isn't on the roster. I guess PM doesn't want to cary 4 catchers with the 35 limit. But I thought he would be the next guy in line when they brought him in last year.

Could be his own decision too in an effort to get playing time. Who knows?

He did not pan out. He was likely going to be the 4th string catcher and see no PT. Even the 3rd catcher sees no PT unless he can get PT at another position.

Why would anyone do that? Was he expecting to get to college earlier so that he could be drafted a year earlier? My only guess was that he really did want to play for a good college program, so he didn't want to go the JUCO one and done route. But at the same time, he felt that by getting to LSU a year early, his 3rd year on campus would happen quicker so that he could be drafted a year earlier than if he finished high school.
