The only pitcher I would ever ponder taking over is Rodon. He's an animal. And the bird man is not to the caliber of Nola. Not on the same level at all!

It's because scouts drool over velocity and value it much more than control.

Look at Nola's career K/BB ratio & ERA and tell me he is not a top 5 pick.

PG's top draft prospects. How is Nola so low?! I mean 16 is good but I woulda figured maybe top 10 at least.

Low?

16 is high.

He's #11 on MLB.com's list.

Considering he tops out at about 93, that is some damn strong accolades.

As a GM. I would not even consider drafting Brandon Finnegan over Aaron Nola.

they generally value lefties over righties. Id prob take Nola over him too. But he's a lefty that can run it up to 95

I agree with Lester here. How high to do yall he is gonna go? He doesn't have Strasburgh type stuff. To be considered a first round pick is impressive by itself. With Bregs in 2015 we are looking at a nice run of sick prospect talent. I'll take Nola as my guy any day for sure but there are other talented players out there.

Eta: and by "stuff" I mean scouts value velocity

But Nola has 90+ speed and nice 2 seam movement on it. And his off speed stuff is just as good. He hides the ball really well and can go really deep into games

Maybe my P&G shades are on. But he does posses all the nessecary tools to become a major league pitcher very quickly and is better than most of the other pitchers with the exception of CR and maybe beede

being ranked 16 means he'll prob be taken in the 1st round.

Check out MLB.com's he's 11th

More than any other sport, pro baseball values projectability. No one goes straight to MLB unlike the other sports. There has to be development. It can be argued that Nola is pretty close to his ceiling. High velocity guys, with the right build, are sought after because of what they COULD do and not what they CAN do.

He might be at his close to his best, but I think his best is deserving of top 10 projection. His velocity is solid. Scouts seeing him touching 94 this season. it doesn't get much better and there are guys who live low 90's and high 80's in the majors not named R.A. Dickey i.e. Doug Fister.

ETA: I get what you're saying. And drafting guys based on potential which is why so many HS kids get drafted and saying a guys production in college means nothing when talking pros.

I just want to point out that in less than 502.5 hours from now, we will be in the game thread talking about the tigahs kicking that UNO arse. At this point in time, probably up "only" 1-0 in the 4th and someone will want to fire javi. Oh God I can't fricking wait.

Don't you know only runs scored in the first 3 innings count?

Is there any chance that UNO is better this year than their D-3 level of play last year?

Not yet. Krotz springs. My dumbass brother can follow a fricking straight road and somehow got on 165 at Kinder off of 190 while I was asleep. Woke me up 15 miles from Alex. Had to take 49 down to Bunkie then 71 back to 190. I'm not a happy camper.
