gotcha, you think CPM keeps laird in right...misunderstood

Anything that limits Sciambra's role. He's talented, but I never understood Foster not getting a shot at consistently starting. Here's hoping you're right.

Anybody know how good Moore is defensively at catcher?

I grew up in Sherewood.

Good. I think the kid can hit consistently this year just was unsure about the defense.

i think he's gonna be a liability personally. He cant throw anyone out.

he just needs to hit .350 or better

ha well yeah that would make up for it.

I would think Scivicque or Chinea would be the better option at catcher defensively. To keep Moore's bat without being a catcher though would mean McMullen or Hale not in the lineup respectively. I realize this is all speculation at this point.

Not necessarily. Moore can play first.

In that scenario Hale would be out of the lineup, if we want to go with Astro's prediction just for shits and gigs.
Edit: And I agree I think he plays pretty good at 1st FWIW.

If that were the case, you'll probably see Hale over to 2nd, Moore at 1st, and Robertson or Zardon would be the one left out.

again not necessarily. Hale could play second.
Hale is the frontrunner to start at 2nd at the moment, if you believe Mainieri which some dont.

With Stevenson pain train and Laird filling out the other two OF spots I suppose?
Edit: I admittedly didn't know much about Hale's alternative positions.

why play foster in LF and Laird in RF. that's backwards based on arm strength.
A wise man once said that baseball people like to put the strongest arm in right, because the longest throw in baseball is from RF to 3B. However, how many times in a season is this throw necessary? Where do most base hits in a season end up? The answer would be left field. How many times in a season does the left fielder have to make a throw home to attempt to stop a run? The answer is many more times than the RF to 3B throw. Therefore, it is not a bad thing to have the best arm in left field.
That wise man's name was Stanley Bertman.

you gotta any data backing up this claim?
RF needed to make throws to home too. IMO RF making throws to 3B plus home > LF making throws to home.
