Ron Polk led the fight against the NCAA's limit for almost his entire career.
He pretty much said the 11.7 scholly rule is a major factor why so few black athletes play Div I baseball. Too many of them can't afford paying even 50% of their college expenses. So Polk claimed (and probably still claims) that the NCAA is racist.

It's ridiculous. 18-20 on a 35 man roster is much more reasonable.

As a follow-up to the earlier posts about the roster currently being over the 35 player limit for next year, I just learned that a couple of returning players are borderline with their grades this semester and if they don't pick up their grades through final exams, well......you know.

Im fairly certain the restrictions are in place to deter players from playing baseball in college.
