I'm not soliciting for the Coaches Committee (I think the deadline for joining for next season has passed anyway...10/31) but I'm curious why more of you baseball faithful (you know who you are!
) don't sign up for the CC. Especially in regards to you BR area fans. Anyone can join, btw. It's not like it's exclusive or by invitation only.
The entry level membership is only $300/year and for that you get to have dinner with the players and coaches 8 times a year in the indoor batting cage building at The Box, you get a CC hat and t-shirt and you get frequent emails from the coaches updating you on the latest goings on with the team.
Plus you get satisfaction from knowing the money raised helps the program by allowing the coaches to buy things that they don't have to beg for via the LSU budget process.
For example, PM uses some of the money to always have clean, white baseballs for batting practice. It's a little thing but it's something that makes an impression on recruits. I had one first year player tell me a couple of seasons ago that the white BP baseballs was the first thing he noticed about LSU compared to another school he was considering which only used beat up and dirty balls for BP.
At the dinners you sit with the players (I'm pretty sure they are told to disperse themselves among the tables where we eat) and you really get to know them a little bit. Not to sound creepy but you get to see that they really are still kids for the most part and they love the game and they love playing for LSU.
I enjoy asking them when and how they first became interested in LSU baseball. Their answers almost always make you feel good and proud to be a fan of LSU baseball.
Knowing how passionate many of you are about the baseball program, why not think about it?

I already drive the 40 miles to BR about 50 times a year. I'll join at some point

But just think, you could have sat next to you-know-who during dinner 8 times last season!

One reason I haven't is because I always had other obligations on the evenings when they held the dinners (tutoring and/or class). I'll keep it in mind for next year.

Completely understandable.
The meetings are in September, October, November, January, February, March, April and May. During the "off season" the meetings are always on a Tuesday on either the second or third Tuesday of the month. Once the season begins (February, March, April and May), the meeting is held just prior to one of the mid-week games.
BTW, I just checked and it's not too late to join for next season but October 31 was the deadline to join and have your name in included on the Coaches Committee page in the game programs next season.

I'll look into it for sure. I haven't even been a season ticket holder since I was in high school (other obligations), but I wait-listed this year and am waiting to hear back. Also, there's a little something new that will be sucking up most of my income for the foreseeable future!

Don't worry....the K Lady would have diverted everyone's attention away from you anyway.

Excellent work on advocating the CC
I live in NOLA and honestly until I started to post here seeing your posts, I had never even heard of the Coaches Committee. I'm kind of a loner among my close group in my support of Tiger Baseball, which is part of the reason I'm drawn to you crazy bastards. It's definitely something I will consider doing in the near future now that I'm starting to be an adult in life and settle down financially and mentally.

No doubt. But it happens to the best (and the worst) of us though.

Thanks for posting. I was starting to think I had killed this thread.
