Is he more of a runner when things break down kind of QB? Or do we expect to see designed runs for him? From the games I've seen him in, I feel like it was more trying to make a play when the play broke down but I haven't watched much on Texas.

Whittington had 340 yards rushing and receiving in the state playoffs this past year, where he also won both offensive and defensive MVP awards. In the same game he broke Eric Dickerson's long time state record for all purpose yards. He's a special athlete.

He’s a smaller Burrow who is a bit more accurate. I don’t necessarily agree that he is a better runner I just think they are different runners. Sam is certainly more shifty.

They are both careful with the ball
They are both tough
They are both leaders
They both throw the ball pretty well. I think Sam throws it better.

There really are a lot of parallels to draw between them.

Pretty good read. While I agree with most of what you said, I do think Johnson is one of the best WRs in the country and he can give us a lot of trouble with his size advantage. Not to mention Ehlinger can give us fits with his athleticism at that size. Our front 7 getting pressure and making it a long day for him will decide how effective and accurate he will be. Their front 7 is an obvious weakness and our interior OLine could be one of the best groups in the country which should lead to a big day for the RBs. We also really need to take advantage of our WRs all being experienced over their CBs. If they choose to play a lot of man coverage and IF Burrow is accurate we can give them a ton of trouble. All in all I don't think the gap between Texas and us is big but experience should play a huge factor in this one. My prediction is LSU 38-28.

Lots of designed runs. Think Tim Tebow.

He does both. The RPOs have a designed QB run option, and he often takes off when things break down. It will be important for our QB spy to keep him in check. I expect Divinity to be on that task.

Herman’s offense leans heavily on designed QB runs.

It will be a big game but a loss won't eliminate LSU
You could still run the table win sec and title game and make playoffs
A win over Texas could give LSU a cushion to drop a sec game and beat Bama and still win sec

I also feel this game is building up a lot like Miami last year. However, I am not ready to say that we will go up by 30 in this one because of Ehlinger and the other talent that Texas has. But we are much more talented now than we were against Miami last year.

I never bought into Miami being a good team. They lived off of turnovers and you can't expect those to bail you out every game. I also knew Rosier was a bad QB and he proved it. Ehlinger is a good QB and I'm more worried about him extending drives with his feet.

If we play a relatively clean game, no big turnovers or untimely penalties I think we win by 7-10 points. Fans will probably go nuts, but I think we play a somewhat conservative gameplan (more runs and high percentage, short passes) since it's game 2 on the road vs a tough opponent. Aranda will probably hold off on aggressive blitzes early on as well. If we leave Austin with a W then I expect the coaches to get more aggressive.

Cook and Greene are very talented but it is absolutely crazy to think those two will be the best duo in the country.

He is definitely more physical than Burrow. Sam will crash into every defender that tries to tackle him. Burrow does as well but he clearly is not as physical as Sam.

Of course it will not directly eliminate LSU but I think if we lose this one, then there is probably another loss on the schedule.

Sam is 6'3 230. Burrow is 6'4 220.

Sam is a better runner in every way, faster, stronger, shiftier, etc.

I completely disagree that Sam is stronger. And that 6’3” sounds embellished to me.

I'd prefer not to. He wasn't fun to defend. But hopefully we can contain Sam.
