This is where we can make our money this game. Their front 6 is not particularly great, their strength in their D is by far in the secondary. I think we can run for 150-200 yards this game.

I'm glad to have a Texas fan here to discuss with.
I also feel like I may have been critical when writing up some of my post.
You are absolutely right about BJ Foster, he is very good but he is a nickel not a LB. But I feel like Overshown still has a good bit to prove on the field. Also I don't think Overshown will even be starting.
Coburn also showed up as a backup, so I didn't do as much research, but yall really like him. He only had 2 tackles last year, so I would need to see more to be impressed. I still like our chances with that D-line.
I disagree about your receivers having success against us. The only receiving core to have success against us in the past 5 years was Bama and I dont think your receivers are even close to them, imo.

we will have to play some good football to beat them. If Les was still here, I think we lose this one. With the current staff I think we have a better chance. D will have to play good. We will score 30+

Im having Deja Vu from last year leading up to the Miami game with all this talk of Texas WRS giving LSU fits and i'll say the same thing here that i told Miami fans. LSU will win this game. I dont know how its gonna happen but it will. They will likely win convincingly as well. Yall dont have the horses to keep up for a whole game.

Thanks for doing this, this was a good read... A couple things...
Where we win:
- If we win 1st downs on defense, I am not worried at all about Ehlinger throwing the ball on us. We have to put them behind the chains
- Collin Johnson becomes a non-factor
- Have to contain the edges as they will run some jet-sweep type stuff similar to Auburn. This is where having a guy like Grant Delpit is huge, as he can come up and make crucial tackles in space even when we do lose contain.
- Lock up their edge rushers
Where we lose:
- If Ehlinger can consistently run for 4 or 5 yards a pop then we will get gassed. Our DLine is stout, but they aren't great at causing disruption in the backfield. This will need to be generated by the LBs.
- Collin Johnson is big, and that scares me. I don't see him being a consistent factor, but all Johnson needs is 1 or 2 big receptions where he uses his size to out-man Fulton for a big gain or a TD.
- Can't allow them to pressure Burrow... The only times the offense looked inept (State, Bama, Florida) was when Burrow was worried about the rush consistently. When he feels comfortable, this offense can put up a ton of points.
100% the biggest thing to me is their ability to get ahead of the chains. If we can make plays on 1st downs, I think we win this game easily. If not, it will make for a frustrating 60 minutes.
LSU: 31
Texas: 17

Jamison and Green will be on the corners, both are elite in my opinion, but lack experience.
Elite based on what?

I also feel this game is building up a lot like Miami last year. However, I am not ready to say that we will go up by 30 in this one because of Ehlinger and the other talent that Texas has. But we are much more talented now than we were against Miami last year.

I think we will see more disruption from the front 3 this year with the move away from the read and react scheme. Sounds like we’re going to be much more aggressive at the line.

Fabulous Analysis - Appreciate the work you put in to it and thanks for sharing.

I know this is very long. Please do not say TLDR, I want to spark conversation on this game and hear peoples thoughts after reading up on Texas. If you cannot read this post when you see it, go home and read it later instead of saying "TLDR." I spent time on this (gave both perspectives) and put it in a good format (I think) so please respect that. Lets see if TD can defy the odds and have a productive civil conversation about a game.
Anyone they TLDRs this should be banned. Seriously.
Will give this more study this evening but thanks for posting this man

solid post. You did your research.
At a neutral site, i'd feel great about LSU.
at UT, I think it comes down to 4th qtr

I thought your overall assessment was very fair. I realize LSU is loaded in the secondary, but I think our receivers will still have success. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree there.

I'm referring to his muscle not weight. He looks the part.

Thats what I'm getting from every Texas fan. Agree to disagree and we'll probably both be right on Sept. 7.
Also one question, is BJ Foster a Linebacker this year because my depth chart has him listed a a Nickel?

He'll play at Nickle. He's basically a safety/linebacker hybrid in Orlando's defense. I think you'll also see the same from Overshown if he plays against LSU(I assume he will).

A qb willing to play tackle football will turn the crowd on.
Sounds to me like he's a Burrow clone. Tough, needs to work on accuracy, but is a true leader.
Should be a fun game, but I think inexperience on defense costs them. We win, but it may not be pretty at times for either team.

If you think about it (and keep up with recruiting), their entire starting secondary are guys LSU recruited heavily. I'm not trading ours though.

Ehlinger is a better runner than Burrow. They are both tough as nails and great leaders though.
