If there is any school in the state that has the means, IF ALLOWED, to compete with LSU, it's UL-L.

no chance, have you seen what LSU makes in football revenue?
it would take USL 30 years to get close to anything LSU produces now, maybe more.
I agree though as the poster said the reaction from LSU fans is from direct fan interaction. Other than that its really insignificant relationship
I do wish we were playing them Friday.

My question to LSU fans is this. LSU athletics will not take a far step back on any given year. Football and baseball will always be playing for a national title. Other sports will be at the top of the SEC and can make a run at any time. If UL were to progressively move into a better conference and become more nationally recognized while LSU stayed at the top, why is this such a bad thing?

First...you'll never get an LSU fan to take you seriously when you refer to your university as UL. I say this as an alumnus of your school...which you may or may not be.

As for getting better, fine by me. I was in school when the SEC expanded, and I had actually hoped (though in vain obviously) that USL could have made the jump into the SEC. I'd have no issue with USL getting bettr.

The problem is, until then...be happy with what you are. The largest problem I always found while at USL and in dealing with USL fans was the inability to be content with where the program was REALLY at, because they spent nearly every other moment concerned with what was going on in Baton Rouge.

USL lost by 7
LSU lost by 8

Fwiw y'all would have beat LSU by 20 last year. You can't deny the two time NOLA bowl champs

Im plenty happy. I dont typically have high expectations so a baseball team that was supposed to finish near the bottom of the sunbelt and that is very young that is now a 2 seed in a regional excites me even though they prob. wont advance. A football team that sucked for the past 25 years wins 2 small bowl games in a row makes me ecstatic. Like i said with small expecations when things go good it makes it fun to be a Cajun fan. I could care less that LSU fans think winning the Nola bowl is a joke. It has honestly been one of the most exciting bowls the last 2 years to watch.

Again, if there is no threat, what difference does it make what we call ourselves?

Explain to me why LSU fans can ask us not to cheer for let's say Bama (which I no longer do but citing an example), yet as soon as the letters UL show up or we win a few games, it becomes an all out attack. That is the definition of hypocrisy.

That's a healthy attitude. You are, I'm afraid...the exception. It has been my experience, both as a student at USL in the late 80's and early 90's and since that time in dealing with people while living in Lafayette, that they seem to achieve more gratification from watching LSU fail than by USL succeeding. Given LSU's penchant for NOT failing lately, and USL's history of not succeeding, you can see how things go badly.

Like I said, it's all about comparisons. LSU fans actually do get to reasonably compare our program with the other top echelon programs in the nation. USL seems eager to do this, but almost always stop at the Baton Rouge exit on I-10 east...and then they get angry, jealous, etc. It's like being mad about having a small dick without realizing the only thing you ever compare yourself to is images of John Holmes. Within the confines of USL competition, they are doing quite well. But they are still a long, LONG, LOOOOOONG way off from being even a bottom feeder in the SEC.

Funny question considering both LSU national titles were won in the superdome.

We've played in 2 bowl games in 40 years and they were both in LA and we won both of them. We have not won a bowl game outside of the state. What's your point?
