Two of La Tech's stars are LSU "could've been" players. Paul Turner, a wide receiver who received very little playing time at LSU, transferred to Tech. Trent Taylor was an outstanding receiver at Evangel in Shreveport. Problem is he is only 5'8" (like Tyrann Mathieu). The announcers at the New Orleans Bowl last night were comparing him to Wes Welker. He is quick as a cat, has great hands and is very difficult to cover.

Does LSU ignore short receivers in their recruiting efforts? Some of these guys turn out to be exceptional players. Turner is also relatively short at 5'11". Note that Trey Quinn is also a Wes Welker type player and only 6'0". LSU has used him very little and yet he holds the national high school record for receiving yards in a career at 6,566 yards. Is LSU getting the most from its receiving talent?

So you're asking does LSU ignore short receivers and one of your examples is a guy LSU signed?

You dont watch the nfl do you? I hear there are a couple WR's who play for the Giants and Dolphins who went to school at LSU that are making a name for themselves, both under 6 feet tall.

Quinn was supposed to be a possession receiver like Landry. Unfortunately he had many big drive ending drops when they tried to work him into the system last year.

Enough said, if true. I thought Landry was 6' and Beckham 6'1".

When I saw Trent Taylor light it up with La Tech and knowing LSU didn't recruit him, probably because of his height, it kinda set me off! I watched him during his career at Evangel and was always impressed. Would have loved to have seen him at LSU.

By the way, he was an excellent point guard on the basketball team at Evangel as well. He is an all-around athlete but cursed with lack of height.

Paul Turner is rated 98th in the WR class this year. On a pass heavy offense. I don't think he was or is LSU caliber.

He was second on the team in catches when they TRIED to work him in. He had a couple of critical drops against bama and his LSU career appears over. You don't have critical mistakes against bama on a les miles team unless you are BH. Just ask JL and now Quinn.

I know...but he had success somewhere else. Its a chance to bash the coaching staff.

1: LSU signed one of the guys you use as an example.
2: OBJ and Landry are not "tall" WRs. Numbers get stretched a bit for football, so my guess is they are both about 5'10-5'11.
3: LSU can choose guys who are 5'10-6'5 who are fast and elusive. So why bother recruiting fast, elusive guys who are only 5'8?

He was lighting it up against weak competition. Not every LA high school kid is good enough to play in the SEC. Plus, if he's lighting it up he's better of where he is.

Quinn whad many big drive ending drops????? ONE Game..2 Drops(4th qtr)...Bama you mean? MANY DRIVES? You don't watch much football do you!

I don't have enough fingers & toes to count the amount of drops Dupre , Dural & Diarse had this season...no double standard in play there...Just easier to send whitey to the bench i guess...gotta get them Real athletes on the field

BTW Quinn caught ALL 5 passes thrown to him this year; NO DROPS! ..he could be lighting it up with Clemson

it's a bit amazing how that whole "Quinn can't catch" thing grew out of those 2 drops. not excusing dropping the ball, but you'd think he was mid-07 Lafell out there.

Negative try again. My posts have merit about quinn ur just whining like a bitch about his PT when it has more to do with it than his hands.
