Better yet .. make the [purple gold purple] stripe come around the arm and run down to align with the stripe on the pants.

I'm not very old, but I'd probably be classified as a staunch Republican (actually Libertarian), conservative, cover-my-daughter's ears, leave-the-uniforms-alone type guy.

All that said, those all white unis freakin' rock. How about we use them for several away games per year?

I think it could be worse. It is still he white shirt which follows tradition, but I am just not too sure about the white helmet. I do think it would be much better than the purple pants and jersey idea. I just couldn't see that going well.

We could make a new "tradition" like one uniform for Saturday night games, one for day games, one for Thursday night games, one for special occasion games like this weekend.

You know how some MLB teams do. Like the Astros wear pinstripes normally, but on Saturday they wear white unis without the pinstripes with brick red caps, and on Sunday games they were the brick red jerseys.

Whatever we wear, just win!

That is the worst uni I have ever seen. There are Tiger fans that like them and then there are the heterosexual fans.

The petitions numbers are starting to pick up some steam....remember if you like the idea to email the petition link along with a pick of the white uni's...

Plus it links back to this site so it gives some exposure to the Rant....so what are you guys waiting for...email this to everyone you know.

Why all the whining about tradition? Sometimes I think people have no idea what they are complaining about...

I'm about as traditional a guy as you'd hope to find...especially when it comes to things like sports uniforms. I hate the new designs by Nike and Addidas that you first saw in Miami and now are vomiting on Oregon, etc. Just horrible!

But...this all white version of our uniforms is NOTHING like that! It's a tremendously traditional college football uniform, and looks just like ours! There's no Tiger stripes, no crazy arse piping like you see at Miami, no weird creative stripes on the helmet. Just our traditional three bar stripes on the helmet, jersey and pants.

Now to be honst, I don't like the white helmets...never did...so I don't want to support the petition because of that. Throw our regular gold lid on there and I'll sign yesterday. Likewise, throw our gold lid and a matching gold jersey over those white pants and I'll sign twice.

But stop with the complaining about tradition. There is NOTHING nontraditional about these. They look just like our current uniforms...just utilizing one of our other colors.

Complain about the shite we're wearing this Saturday...and remember that unless someone talks LSU into THIS kind of change any alternate uniform we ever wear will likely look like that abomination we're wearing this weekend.

I like the traditional uniforms, sorry fellas. No all whites for me. White jerseys, gold pants, and gold headgear. Tradition.

PS. I wish that the shoulder stipes would go completely around the shoulder area, not just over the top.

I'm not sure how else to say this, but I'll try again...

LSU has NOT always worn what we wear today. You know that, right? The beginings of what we wear today and think of as our "TRADITIONAL" uniforms stem from the late 50's. Before then, we wore all sorts of stuff...most notably purples at home. We wore Old Gold like Notre Dame. So rather than saying "traditional" why not just say "current uniform?"

I can understand simply not likling a change in uniform for basic style sake...but hanging the reason to tradition is a little disingenuous to me. If, howevere, LSU was looking to make a chance to something like what we're wearing this weekend, I'd be ringing that "tradition" bell along with you. THOSE would not be traditional uniforms...

I just don't get the claims that it would be blasphemous to use an alternate uniform occasionally that mirrors our current design but simply utilizes our colors more. Afterall...I don;t think anyone has suggested we get rid of our current gold/white/gold uniforms in favor of wholesale change...have they?

But take a look around...things most certainly change. LSU will change...sooner or later. The choice will be to allow Nike to help choose that change (see this week's abomination of a uniform) or for us to go to something along these lines which look like what we already wear.

As for the stripes, I've heard that it has to do with the way the jersey are now cut and how tight they are. I'm not so sure, since ole Miss also is a Nike uniform team, and they seem to wear full shoulder stripes. I agree...I prefer the full ones, just don't know if they are doable.

Remove the stripes on the legs, like on the Tulane throw-back jerseys and you are definitely on to something!

GeauxTiger....fifty years is a long time, especially in our "change-everything-immediately-or-it's-lame" culture. Fifty years is tradition. I mean listen to some of these posters, five years is ancient history to a kid who's 18 and who believes nothing of value ever existed before he or she was born. That's kind of sad.

I agree with your point, though, about the styling being a bit more timeless than the new creations we see at Miami, Oregon, Virginia Tech, etc. You're correct on that. I dislike the all white. even the gold helmets might improve that look, some.

I'd like to see some options in old gold/metallic gold.

I'd like to see the "UCLA Stripes" go all the way around, again.

I've posted that the gold jersey that was posted on Trindon Holliday with the very simple purple block "8" on it is nice with or without the UCLA stripes, and over white pants with the gold headgear.

I'd also like to see our "gold" toned down again from the bright yellow, but that wouldn't show up as well on television.
