We can all admit (at least the eldest of the rantards that can still read, type, and think straight - sort of) that LSU since 2003 has been on the verge of "turning the corner" and becoming a perennial playoff team similar to Ala. However, that simply never has materialized. Granted we won titles in 1958, 2003, 2007, 2011 (regular season title?), and 2019. That's consistent but not a dynasty.

No offense to our previous title coaches (excluding 1958) but there seemed to be something missing after a national championship title. I think (IMHO) that Kelly is the guy that can not only get us to the promised land again but also keep us competitive annually - similar to Ala. Also, don't see Kelly wanting to be an NFL head coach either. He loves the passion of college football - as we all saw on Sat. night. Interview post game brought a tear to my eye I'll tell you that.

I've been ready to turn this corner for last nearly 20 years. Let it happen.

It’s really amazing the potential LSU has.

I think Kelly can bring us some consistency on staying on top.

The machinery was there after 2003. Just had an unfortunate coaching change.

2 schools the country has always been afraid of having competent, process based head coaches that maximize their potential, Georgia and LSU. Georgia looks to have finally turned the corner and it looks like one that isn't going away soon ala Clemson. LSU has been right on the edge numerous times but until we can have sustained, contending success every year, not every 4, we aren't there.

Corner has turned for the last 3 coaches. But now things are aligned to stay in the direction of dominance

Just had a couple of coaches that forgot to check the oil. Kelly seems like a coach that changes the oil and rotates his tires on time.

Saban didn’t stay long. Miles and Ed both had nuance’s that hurt them but I think the #1 that killed us through the years is not retaining players. It seems like Saban at Bama played every season with juniors and some seniors and we have a great year then the whole team declares for the draft.
