pressure defense to get steals and score in transition

from what you described in OP, it seems like that and some JOB fade aways will be our only points in the paint. Hopefully Coleman can open that up, though. He is very capable of throwing a defense off with his size and range.

It's not like UCI scores in bunches. They only average 71.5 points per game. LSU has scored less than that only once. I am hoping our defense can hold down UCI and we can get some shots falling or a hot JOB/Coleman.

In Kent Lowes article it says:

There is no live television broadcast but the game will be available on the LSU Sports Radio Network with Jim Hawthorne and Ricky Blanton on site and Kevin Ford back in the network studios in Baton Rouge to host the broadcast. In Baton Rouge, the game will be available on Eagle 98.1 FM and in the Geaux Zone for subscribers on LSUsports.net.

So I do not believe that means a feed. The UCI link looked like it would have the game and it looked free so IDK.

LINK

There is a link that says GeauxZone live audio but theres another link that says UCI live video.

SoS, we need to start the marketing for the Florida game ASAP. It's a big football recruiting weekend for the '14 class and a good PMAC atmosphere could only help.

It may help convert some football only fans as well, but it will at least be a way to help get them into the arena.

I think we should be able to get a decent crowd in. Still almost a month till the game so no haste needed yet, but Im hoping people get excited after football is over.

definitely. and you can bet that LSU will completely drop the ball, so it's up to us. kinda wish uf had beaten arizona so they'd still be unbeaten.

I still think they are. Losing @ Arizona by 1 point isn't bad at all.

There isn't a team in the SEC with the size they have.

That starting lineup doesn't look too big. And I remember Wilder from last year. He's a very undersized forward at 6-2, but has a great shot.

They have players who play at least 20% of the minutes that are:

6'10" 205 (27% of team minutes)
7'0" 268 (24% of team minutes)
6'10" 247 (21% of team minutes)
6'9"225 (57% of team minutes)
6'8" 210 (52% of team minutes)

With those %'s it shows that so far over 90% of the time they have 2 players over 6'8" in the game at 1 time.

While their guards arent super tall, we dont have a problem there anymore. Its the front court, and they have some big bodies to throw down low at us.

They are deep and big. Not neessarily super talented, but they can run all game with at least two 6'8" guys in, LSU can't come close to that.

I honestly think we have no problem handling these big boys. Hopefully we'll let them get comfortable in the half court for a few minutes early, then BOOM! turn up the heat, apply pressure and trap on defense.
They don't match up with LSU's athleticism, I think LSU takes this one easily, mainly due to controlling the pace of the game.

Also, not important to us, but still cool.. UCI has this guy signed for next year 7'5" Mamadou Ndiaye

Well, we can, but choose to play our more talented, faster lineup. Their bigs that come off the bench are not much better than Courtney or Ludwig.

All of their big men have a higher Offensive Rating (A measure of personal offensive efficiency developed by Dean Oliver. The formula is very complicated, but accurate. For a detailed explanation, buy Basketball on Paper.) then both Courtney and Ludwig. They play significant minutes and help UCI to be a top 5 rebounding team in the nation.

Where's your info from South? I can't keep up with the team like I'd like since I'm not in BR, but if he does in fact start, I hope his youth doesn't hurt the team with nerves and/or early turnovers.

Radio show and/or LSUSports.net

I follow most of the players twitters and get some good info from there too. I try to keep everyone as updated as possible though.

Collins hasn't been the best facilitator so far this season, but his 19 point outburst in only 19 minutes on Friday surely warrants some playing time. He is a project and needs to work on some things but he has ability. I would not expect him to lose us the game by anymeans. It will be good for him IMO
