OSU had none: AP Poll
LSU also had six wins against Sagarin’s Top 20: Sagarin Ratings
Why was this even a debate?

Who cares? They're not now. Are you really going to try to argue for including a win against a 7-5 team?

Sagarin has Texas at 20. Three losses to Top 10 teams.
All of A&M’s five losses were to Top 10 teams.

Exactly. I don’t understand people trying to prop up the Texas win. It was a good win but Texas isn’t a top 10 team any way you try to spin it. Their ranking at the time was completely bogus.

I'm pretty sure all the people downvoting you and me simply don't realize that if you include the Texas game as an "AP Top 10" win for LSU then Ohio State has also starts to get top 10 wins like #8 PSU and #8 Wisconsin, and the Michigan win is higher ranked, and Michigan State also gets considered as a top 25 team when they met up

That makes no sense

I truly dont think that people are trying to prop up Texas, I think the point the Big 10 outside of Ohio St. is overrated! The SEC top tier teams beat up on each other in mostly competitive games and constantly gets dropped just to prop up the Big 10 teams, I mean the eye test is bs. Do you honestly think Penn St., Minn, Michigan would beat any of the top tier SEC Schools? Texas was number 9! Thats the point!

The committee of “football experts” as the chair called his group ranked Wisconsin 8 and Penn State 10. So Ohio State ended up with 3 top 10 wins and LSU only 2.

The committee writes the book then tells us the story.

But they weren't actually worthy of number 9 and we know that now so why are we pretending they were? And in the mean time giving Ohio State leeway to make similar claims?

4 of the 6 BCS computers have Ohio State #1.

It was definitely close.

That’s why I posted the AP Poll—been around a lot longer and far more reputable. And they don’t have an agenda they’re trying to justify.
Texas is not a “Top 10” win, but they’re still a solid, middle-tier team from a Power 5 conference that LSU went on the road to play early in the year, something completely lacking on OSU’s out-of-conference resume. OSU scheduled three cupcakes at home and it cost them.
