Ask a sports psychologist. I posted on this as to why I’ve said for weeks he needed to sit ie take games off. This is getting to Nick Anderson level of concern. If he doesn’t sit and get slowly built back up, he may not recover.

Take it from someone that played this game and didn’t make it past my first year in college from the inability to flush it as they say now or y’all call it the yips. It extends to hitting. He has lost his confidence.


One thing I’ve stated on here is I would tell him to absolutely charge every single time the ball comes off the bat to speed him up and not let him think.
When he has time to think he speeds himself up. You can see it and there is absolutely a difference. Look at Bregman when he played SS. Go watch how he played charging balls that seemed “routine. He didn’t let the ball play him. He was the aggressor.

I played 3rd and second. 3rd was easier because it was all reaction. Second was not the same. That transition nearly killed me not because of anything but time.
