Strike out looking...this team will do something we have not seen since Smoke. They will not make the SEC Tourney. Bring this back if I am wrong. This is a fundamentally flawed team. They do not make contact with men on base, they make too many errors in the field and they walk too many hitters. That is the trifecta of poor baseball.
Holy moly overreaction. I'm as frustrated as anybody, but truth be told we traveled to play a damn good team at their place, on a Friday night, in absolute shitty weather, and we played them fairly evenly. Difference in the game is they hit one out of the park and we didn't. One swing of the bat. One.
This team probably isn't going to match what last years team did, and I don't think any realistic minded person thought they would. But they'll get some post season recognition, get some post season wins, and just improve as the season progresses in general. That may not be what we strive for as LSU baseball, but it's a hell of a lot better than melting over a close loss to a good team.

Nice post. Long season, they will get better. Look @ Peterson, he had a great outing.
Getting hot @ right time is what it's all about.
The season has nothing to do with the post season, unless you are totally are terribly bad, and this team isn't bad.

I don't blame him if he gets paid but I think he could make more money with another year.
Let it go. He's gone.

I still think this team returns strong without him. I prefer to have him though.

This team is going to be strong later this year. I see all of the pieces. They just haven't come together yet.

You retards crack me up....it's not negative when you can tell a team doesn't have it on a given night....it's just a fact.

Pretty spot on.
ETA Getting Smith back for this team will be pretty big....it is going to shore up a hole (assuming he hits to his capability when he gets back)....I'm am unsure what hole it will be. 2 weeks ago I was sure he would come back at 3rd and Hughes would stay at SS. Now it seems like 3B and SS are liabilities.....I'm still disgruntled that Slaughter isn't better than he is right now at the plate. It wasn't supposed to happen that way for him.

Disagree....this team has pieces and the offense will come around.

This team probably won’t be #2 in Omaha this year, but we’ll be better in May than we are now. And if our young pitchers are healthy for a full season next year, we may be back in the CWS. Watch baseball for the long game. Don’t put too much into any one game.

I know he may not be the ideal, but would you really say that Reid at 3B is a liability? Maybe I’m just eager to give him the benefit of the doubt since he’s such a patient hitter.

He's average at best defensively and I think as the season stretches on he will be a .200-.250 hitter.
I thought Hughes would be better than that but right now I'm not as sure as I was 2 weeks ago.

Hughes didn't look confident at the plate at all last night. Seemed like he was up there looking to walk every AB. Hope that doesn't become the norm against SEC pitching. I do think he turns out very similar to Austin Nola throughout his career here. Reid made some great plays defensively last night. I understand he's slow and lacks power and bat speed but I don't get the hate on his defense. But if we're to have a season like last year we need Slaughter to take that spot back.

When Smith is ready to go you put him at SS no questions asked. Figure out what you’re going to do with Hughes later. Smith will be to good to put him back at 3rd.

I guess the world is going to end now that duplantis is gone after this year.

This year's team cain't hit its way out of a paper bag.
You never cease to make yourself look stupid.

Good post. It’ll take time for some of these guys to come around.
