Amazing we have no other options at 1st.

Wasn't Braun the top rated 1B to make it to college.

Jay said they see him as an OF... ok?

I would rather not see him in the lineup. However, he does hit LHP better

Yorke moving up in the order is certainly a choice. Thanks JML. We need this series

It’s been posted 100 times … he has never played first base. He said himself in an interview that he only played OF growing up.

I know it’s been posted a bunch but from his bio

quote:

Named by Perfect Game as the nation’s No. 1 high school first baseman and the No. 64 best overall high school player in the nation

Why would he be named # 1 if he hadn’t played the position?

Should a hitter who had 14 hits in his last 14 games before this week, with a .304 BA, with a .457 obp, be benched due to poor performance? That is my question.

This has to be a last chance type of start for Yorke

Yap, one last hear check for the immediate future. Even tho there is no legitimate 1B backup. It’s getting to a point where that won’t matter

Also, just frickin start Cowan. Don’t understand using an opener, though I’m glad it’s not Guidry.

There are other options. The amazing part is that Jay won’t use them. Brown has played 1B. Dardar has played 1B. Yamin has played 1B. Arrambide and Serna have played 1B.

Jay knows more than us and I really wish I knew what that was.

It’s where the recruiting services projected him. I’m paraphrasing, but in the interview he had made a comment about never playing first base and he didn’t know why that was put online

I think Guidry was the guy until he got hot to potentially close Friday's game.

More surprised it's not Cowan starting, but I'm guessing he'll be one of the first guys out the pen. If you can get through the order once with Fontenot and then go to someone like Cowan or Guidry, that should be quite the changeup for their batters.

I’d like to see Cowan as well. But Jay likes going high velo to slow. I’ve said it before, I think Moore is out longer than we know and Jay is trying to find a 3rd guy to fill that spot.

Thanks
Wasn’t arguing at all, just curious

I’d rather Yamin get a shot at 1st

Because when you are left handed with no real position, you can only be projected at so many spots. Braun was ranked high because he can mash

Also baseball rankings are practically worthless

, I think Moore is out longer than we know

In one of his PCs, he talked about Moore and said something along the lines of "it won't look the same when he gets back" and seemed to be implying he would no longer be starting, or at least extending as a starter.

I'm not sure if he's out longer than we know, but it wouldn't surprise me. Certainly wouldn't surprise me if he comes out the bullpen or maybe used as the opener for Sunday games so he isn't throwing as many pitches as he used to.

I can't remember if he said that'd be for the rest of the season after he comes back or just immediately after he comes back.
