They already said they aren’t going to penalize teams for losing conference championship games.

Am I the only one struggling to figure out how the conference championship games fit into this new world? ls it just upside that you can move up to a higher seed for winning, but not get dropped for losing?

Wild to see SMU in the mix. I read the article about how they declined revenue share to join the ACC. Playing the long game but great to see them making noise. As long as it doesn’t screw LSU, I’ll be pulling for them.

The winner of a P4 championship game will be seeded 1-4 and get a first round bye regardless of record or quality of conference. No matter how good Notre Dame is, the highest they could be seeded in the tournament is 5 as long as they are not in a P4 conference.

It's the right thing to do (if they do it) to not penalize the loser if both teams were slated to make the playoffs before the game. If only one team was slated, then the game should be considered a playin game. A conference should not be able to better or hurt it's position (other than maybe overall seeding in the tournament) because of an extra post season game.

No shite Sherlock ... Actually its all of nothing for LSU. Win out means your in SEC Championship game. LSU must win it to get in playoffs. lose it they are out unfortunately. Win it not only does LSU get in playoffs but they get a first round bye!

Vandy is 6-3 and in the top 25

USC has a losing record

What is so hard for you to comprehend?

The rules are they take auto qualifying conference champs, then Alabama and Notre Dame, then highest ranked teams not already in. It’s a 12 team playoff but not necessarily the top 12 ranked teams.
