Scorekeeper probably didn’t realize that the ball hit the glove first. Misplayed fly balls that find turf are usually ruled hits.

College baseball scorers take the position that is not consistent with the rule book that misplayed balls can't be errors. This one is particularly egregious because he screwed it up and "touched" it so it is a clear error under any standard.
