Hello guys, I have been a long time reader of the forum and finally joined. I am trying to plan a weekend trip (11/4 - 11/6) to Baton Rouge for the Alabama game this year. I was looking for any tips as far as buying tickets, hotels, restaurants, etc. I am a college student so relatively small budget (600/person).
As of now, I was planning:
$200/ticket
$200/night hotel
$200 on food and alcohol
Thanks in advance. Looking forward to watching Leonard Fournette run over the Alabama defense in tiger stadium!!!

I would think higher unless you want to stay in a roach motel.

Seriously? I've never looked at Br hotels since I live here.. But I'd be pretty surprised if $200/night doesn't get you a decent place.

I was looking on tripadvisor and they were showing 4*s for $200/night. That's why I was thinking that would be good.

If it's anything like the last 5 years, you're going to need to increase this number.

You need to start calling hotels right now. There's some hotels down I-12 in Denham and Walker and I-10 in Gonzales that are 30 minute drives from the stadium that might be available and cheaper.

Nah, I think he will be fine. Yeah, the college drive and downtown places will be around $200, but for a college kid, nothing wrong with one of the newer places in Denham or near Gonazales. Those won't get over $150 would be my bet.

Check airbnb too if you're cool with staying there. You can rent out a whole apartment or house near campus for half that price.
For food, try to go to Chimes and grab a beer and a poboy before game time. On Gameday, you can walk around campus and talk to people. Many will invite you to their tailgates to try the food and have a beer. I'd just buy a bottle of liquor beforehand and split it with your group instead of trying to go to bars. That will save you a ton of money in the end.
If you are in College, go out to Tigerland/Bogies after the game. If you are in town Friday night, Fred's has free drinks with a $10 cover charge from like 8-10 (at least they did the last time I went a few years back).

How is the Radisson in Baton Rouge? It is $199/night and only 2.5 miles from the stadium.

Just shack with a sorostitute and save you $200.

I've never stayed at the Radisson, but it looks decent. It's just off I-10 and across the street from TJ Ribs.

Where you coming in from?

Louisville. I am a TKE at the University of Louisville and a couple of us are going to be making the trip.

Never stayed at that Radisson but the location is great for an LSU game

You can find a ticket for cheaper than that. Just wait until right before kickoff

Couldn't you stay at the TKE house on campus? I'm a former GDI, so no idea how that works.

Are you serious? I stay in Los Angeles Hilton for $119/ night; you probably don't travel much.

There is very little decent competition for hotels within a reasonable distance to Tiger Stadium plus an unusually high demand on gamedays = jacked up prices.
