Great offense/bad defense gets awesome publicity.

Great defense/average offense gets shite on with regularity.

why does this get brought up 4 years later. as i recall, Ohio State was ranked #1. Maybe they didn't deserve to be in the game.

Playing politics is part of the BCS system, say what yall want but Miles knows how to "play the game" and it worked in our favor.

Do people not realize that if LSU didn't get into that game then another 2 loss team would have as well?

Anybody who uses "verve" to describe a college football game should swap his sports column for restaurant reviews. VERVE? Geaux away, Pete!

There were some 1-loss teams in the FCS and in high school football as well. In terms of teams with a legit claim to the BCS Championship hunt (i.e., "deserving of playing for the title"), Ohio State was the only one.

That is not what your statement claimed. Your statement, if submitted as you put it in that post, was wrong. While I believe LSU deserved the title in 2007, your argument as stated is wrong. Your clarification was, however, correct.

That said, LSU did bumble its way into the title game. There is no doubt about it. Bumbling doesn't mean didn't deserve. It simply means we stumbled our way in, which we did.

Of course the strangest thing about the article is the NYT's insistence on referring to us as "Louisiana State."

why is this strange?

Oddly formal. Like someone who calls their mawmaw "Grandmother."

ou're entitled to your own opinion, not your own facts. Which other 2-loss team (there was only one 1-loss team)was more deserving of playing for the title in '07? Ask Ohio State if they felt more 'bumbled' or 'rumbled'."

Eh. That seems really thin-skinned to me. He never said they didn't deserve to be there. He just said they "stumbled and bumbled" - which is figurative language - but is also clearly true of anyone who remembers that season.

Right now, it’s hard to imagine a better defense, and team, than L.S.U.

ONOZ, just look at that "liberal" bias!

Right. It had nothing to do with the historical anomaly of being the first 2-loss BCS champ.

Yeah, I don't quite get the outrage.

I still don't get why everyone in the media keeps referring to Shepard as a "star" receiver....the guy really hasn't shown anything out of the receiver position yet.

why? Is it formal say Florida State rather than FSU?

Boise State or BSU?

LSU is Louisiana State, embrace it

On the other hand, use of the term "bumbled" is purely stupid in referencing the 2007 squad.

Perhaps. The coach was certainly a bumbler.
