Miles called the timeout and then ran Ware up the middle on 3rd and 7 with 6 minutes to go in the game
... and then the Tigers punted to State, pinning State deep, and then the defense forced a turnover. Playing conservative and punting wasn't exactly the end of the world there.

I read it this morning on the commuter train into New York City and called to cancel my subscription to the Times. I told them, "You're entitled to your own opinion, not your own facts. Which other 2-loss team (there was only one 1-loss team)was more deserving of playing for the title in '07? Ask Ohio State if they felt more 'bumbled' or 'rumbled'."

Thamel is a poor excuse for a sports reporter writing for a poor excuse for a sports section.

Ironically, you sent that letter only to have your facts completely wrong. If you are going to call someone on their facts, at least use actual facts and not BS you made up or make your argument the right way.

There were 3 teams with 1-loss or less in the top 12 in 2007. Those teams were tOSU, KU, and Hawaii (undefeated).

There were some 1-loss teams in the FCS and in high school football as well. In terms of teams with a legit claim to the BCS Championship hunt (i.e., "deserving of playing for the title"), Ohio State was the only one.

Once we get to the national title for 2011, they'd probably say we bumbled that too.

Haters are always gonna hate on LSU it seems.

It's not that bad. LSU did indeed "bumble" it's way to the NC in 3007. Lost two games that it shouldn't have and relied on the generosity of strangers.
