I like Lou, but the speech definitely fell flat. Here's my take:

Gentlemen, this is a time for honesty, and I'm gonna be straight up with you:

The experts say we suck. The analysts say we suck. The talking heads say we suck. Football Nation says we suck. Everyone who thinks they know a shite about football … says we suck.

I'm sorry to tell you this, but I gotta give it to you straight: tonight it's US--against the whole fricking world. That's right--it's the 80 people in this locker room--against the big, bad world out there.

Now, we can go out there tonight—and we can suck. And lose. And run for the shadows after the game and cry and whimper and hide.

And a few weeks from now this will all be forgotten.

or ...

WE CAN GO OUT THERE AND RIP THE FREAKING BALLS OFF THOSE BASTARDS. WE CAN GO OUT THERE AND MAIM, MURDER, DESTROY, ANNIHILATE, OBLITERATE—WE CAN TURN THAT FOOTBALL FIELD INTO frickING ARMAGEDDON FOR THOSE BASTARDS.

And if we do that, this game will NEVER be forgotten. YOU will never be forgotten. You will be respected. You will honored. And yes, gentlemen, you will be FEARED by anyone who has ever dared to question your ability.

Because gentlemen, you’ll have done something that very, very few people in life can do: you'll have conquered the world.

Okay, let's get at 'em. And ...

have a GREAT day!

GUYS...
DR LOU

IT IS AN ENTERTAINMENT SHOW

Now,
I am no fan of Lou for obvious reasons; however, if you ever have an opportunity to hear him speak OUTSIDE the sports(TV) arena..go.

He is a hell of a speaker.
Another one that you should not miss either is Skip Bertman.

if that is what you classify as "someone speaking",
you have never taken the time to listen to anyone in a true professional speaking environment.

the thread is about his pep talks. if he is accomplished in other venues, that's great but he lends nothing to show that we're talking about

Thanks, TopWater. I think I'd be a good motivational speaker for the Tigers. Or maybe the Hell's Angels or the Outlaws.

I was a huge fan of Lil' Wayne asking a question about "his" LSU Tigers. Probably the best part.

Lou Holtz's Pep Talk is like the waterboy trying to fire up Tebow.

Tiger Panzer I like the intro, and to me its spot on. But you didn't mention after we beat the crap out of Florida, they will also say its because it was without Tebow. Just like the Ga. win, because of the penalty. Did you notice the ace of spades had a hole in it. Old casino cards.

Cool. I was originally shy about using obscenity, but after reading the post yesterday about Miles dropping the f-bomb on his players, I felt quite comfortable with the liberal use vulgar language. It does add a sort of emphatic touch to the whole exhortation.
