What's more reasonable - to ask the defense to hold Alabama to less than 13 points, or to ask the offense to produce more than 13 points (3 of which were gift wrapped)?
keep them below 13 points, when you only have 50 second left in the game.
The offense gave them a lead with less than minute to go and the defense let them march down field.
Chavis stops doing everything he is good at when it comes to the 2 minute drill.

All I ever see on here are complaints that Miles cannot beat Alabama. Well the reason for the last two home losses to Alabama is now gone. And don't give me the crap about his defenses keep LSU in those games. Michael Jordan isn't remembered for the points that he scored in the first quarter but more for the shots that he made when his team needed him to perform...in the clutch. Chavis does not spell clutch.
Everyone agrees that recruiting is the lifeblood of any program. Well, Chavis wanted a premium salary and still sit on his lazy arse. This isn't the NFL. Why should the highest paid assistant be the one that doesn't even recruit?
Those other coaches made him look so good by loading his defenses with insane talent and he benefitted the most financially from it. That is good for the morale of the rest of the staff.

Offense did okay in the second quarter. Defense gave up almost 300 yards in the 3rd quarter alone.

Where was Chavis' defence ranked at the end of the season?
Where was Miles' team ranked at the end of the season?
If the offence had been productive, the defence would probably have been ranked higher.

IMHO The defense looked bad because they were always on the field. Our offense didn't give them much rest with 3 and outs.

You're a terrible fan FWIW
When it officially comes out that Chavis bolted to Aggieland because he was busy carrying the team and his defense was on the field for the whole game, please eat some humble pie.

This probably will never "come out" since it is false.

Miles brought in Cam and while the jury is still out on Cam, he did a masterful job with Mett and many hope he can get Harris going too.
162.9 yards of passing offense per game this year.

It is my opinion Miles made a good hire with Chavis. Chavis blames Miles for poor offensive play. I agreed that the offense has not been great this year. The defense improved game by game this year under Chavis. The defense play caused the lost to Alabama and ND at the end of game and you can blame defense for getting tired which is true however if we had replacements during the game then these let downs may not have happened. So, I believe one reason for the losses was past recruiting failure by the DC.

What's even funnier is this "shitting on lsu" talk that is all over this board. Chavis simply told the truth about this program
amen brotha!...

His defense finished 1st in the conference. The first two league games were brutal, but unlike Miles and Cam, Chavis' unit go exponentially better as the year went on.

I will only argue that being physcally able doesn't necessarly make you the best for the job and the coaches I trust not the silly people on this board who just think they know something !

Miles relies on the defense to win games, Sumlin does not. Chavis is going for more money and essentially less pressure. He only has to improve their defense which won't be hard. At LSU he is depended on to win the game. He won't have that kind of pressure there and that is what I think he meant by his statement.

50 second, do your job.
The offense has 1 job, score more points
The defense has 1 job, keep them from scoring more points.
If you have a lead with 50 second left, then the defense has to show up.
And it isn't even just Bama.
Notre Dame this year
Ole Miss and UGA last year
Clemson, Bama, the year before.
You can't say it hasn't been an issue since 2011.
And that is only counting games where he did this. We have had a few loses were we just go blown out.
Say what you will about he offense this year, but the Defense is equally as culpable for the Miss St, Auburn, Bama, and Notre Dame loses.
I liked Chavis, it sucks that he is gone, but his one issue was that he abandoned everything that made our defense good when it came time to hold on to a lead.
