There’s no point to if he comes back. We know the outcome and there would be nothing of value to see.

The reason coach scheduled such an easy first month was to get Reed ready for the season.
If true then....HOLY shite!
Even at his very best we aren't talking about a multi-time All American. It's a guy who was a very average SEC player who had the potential to be a marginally above average player. Certainly not good enough to purposely tank you non-conf. schedule over. The non-conference schedule matters in your NCAA Tournament resume. Playing a shitty non-conf. schedule, even if you dominate it, leaves you little margin for error in SEC play.
For example, look at Mizzou. They played a non-conf. schedule equally as bad (sos 291) as LSU's (sos 296). They won 10 SEC games....and they are VERY much on the bubble to get into the NCAA Tournament.
So you are saying MM effectively tanked the non-conf. schedule betting on the fact slow walking a career 7 and 5 player would lead to the 10+ SEC wins LSU would need to just get into the back end of the Tournament?
As if we needed any more evidence MM doesn't know what in the hell he is doing

I’ve been following the program for over 25 years and I am so close to being done. If MM is retained, I can’t imagine I’d be the only one.
I said it the other day. My family has had tickets since Pistol Pete was playing in the Cow Palace. I was there when we beat Arizona. Seen them move the student section, switch the benches, etc.
If they bring McMahon back I will not watch a second of LSU basketball until he is gone.

It’s almost as silly as “we were a week away from canceling the season” comment.

So true. My head explodes every time I hear this fake narrative. Mackinnon yesterday blowing that smoke up our arse with how great McMahon is and how we should feel sad for McMahon and the team that they lost their "best two players". Mackinnon is definitely better than Jalen Reed, Sutton and on many nights RGIII was better than a healthy Jalen Reed.

I like Reed but he was raw/green before the injury. High ceiling players get catapulted to the ceiling in the minds of those who need to shape a narrative. At the time of injury, he was a middle tier SEC player.
I like Reed too, he showed a lot of loyalty to LSU and to CMM and I respect that.
But last year after 8 games against a mostly soft OOC schedule he was averaging 11 points and 6 boards before he got hurt.
This hear he was coming off an injury and really looked a bit compromised by it in the short time he played I'm not sure how much he would have contributed this year if not re-injured.
I'd still have loved to have had him both years but yes the narrative is exaggerated.

You mean giving actual facts, data, evidence, to support a countervailing position rather than just blindly accepting baseless opinion as "fact"?
No, I mean being an arse about it and calling people idiots, but trying to couch it in a condescending nice way.
I like you giving facts, I always have. Just don't be a dick about it.

What's tiresome is people who claim to be fans exhausting every excuse, no matter how illogical and easily disproven, to shift the cause of what has been the worst 4 year stretch of LSU basketball since the mid-90's to anyone and anything but the ONLY constant during that 4 year period.
I don't think I have done that. And I think it's the worst 4-year stretch at LSU ever. Probably in any sport at LSU in modern times. And the blame for that falls squarely on McMahon.
quote:
No other LSU coach in memory has had such a poor on-court/field performance, yet still received such support or, at minimum, blame shifting away from him/her
Have I or have I not been calling for McMahon to be replaced? If your ire is not directed at me, then don't direct it at me in a response to my post.

Somewhere Hallman, Archer, Orgeron, Miles, Fargas, Laval, Manieri, Jones, Johnson, Dinardo are on a group-text saying "where were these 'understanding' fans when we were there?"
I was calling for the same thing with all those guys. I find myself defending a few of those guys from unreasonable folks at times. And Miles. Orgeron and Manieri had just as many "understanding" fans as McMahon does, I would argue more.
And I will tell you the reason you and I disagree on Reed is related to the minutes he played in the last two seasons. I thought he looked much better, but I have always conceded that he was never really tested in those years vs SEC talent.
And you caught me on a bad day as well.

Reed averaged 11 PPG and 7 rebounds as a sophomore , his last full season before his injuries. With improvement expected with experience he would likely have been around 15 PPG and 8 to 9 rebounds.
Even LSU says you're wrong.
From Reed's LSUsports.net bio
quote:
SOPHOMORE SEASON (2023-24)
Played in 32 games this season with 20 starts … Averaged 7.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and just under one assist per game
Your 11 and 7 were what he was averaging in the first 7 games of his junior season. But here's the kicker. In the first 7 games of his soph season he averaged 10 and 6. A delta of ONE! Yet somehow we're supposed to believe that was going to translate into an additional 7 ppg and 4-5 rpg?
The only significant difference between the first 7 in 2024 and the first 7 in 2025 is (a) LSU got to play an awful ULM team to start the season and (b) they went to triple OT vs. UCF which allowed Reed to play 48 minutes
No one is arguing, or has every argued, Reed could (maybe even would) have been somewhat better as a Junior than a Sophomore. But there is ABSOLUTELY no actual evidence to suggest that increase would have been more than just a couple more ppg and rebounds. Certainly not enough to take LSU from one of the worst teams in the league to a bonified NCAA Tournament team as have been implied by the McMahon PR bureau.

He is wrong though, he’s speaking about Reeds maxed out potential being used properly which didn’t happen and wasn’t going to. I’ve discussed what I think he could’ve been but there’s no evidence it was ever going to happen
He was clearly progressing, but there is a caveat that he wasn't playing against SEC-level opponents. McMahon has to go. We all agree that he wasted a lot of potential at LSU.
Posted on 3/12/26 at 4:27 pm to mdomingue
I agree he was also but not at the rate needed and def not to the point guys like that claim. Like you said the caveat was vs P4 teams where we have a 50 game sample size and the splits are very telling compared to the weak non conf teams. This is not about bashing the player, you need direction to develop but he was never a top 2 player at LSU.

Zero players and a bad rep for "cheating"
So tell me, how much worse could it be?
