re: Loss 100% on players. Not Miles. Not coaches. Not plays. Not fraud clock guy.

I've never seen so many down votes in an entire thread, much less one post...

If you guys will allow me a couple unsolicited comments from afar:
1. LSU has a lot of talent, but your quarterbacks are pedestrian. Good teams will cheat up against you. If the quarterback could have passed a little better, you would have beat Wisconsin. They dared you to pass.
2. As a team, LSU lacks discipline. Lots of procedure/offside penalties...to say nothing of the repeated loss of emotional control that results in personal fouls.
3. Leonard Fournette is a force.
4. It may be hard to admit, but you lost to two pretty good teams...by small margins. (I was at the Wisconsin game, and you guys were beat much worse than the score indicated.)
5. Good coaches are hard to find. There are no guarantees. Miles may not be the best, but he is better than most.
6. At Lambeau, the LSU folks were good tailgaters and gracious throughout.
Good luck the rest of the season. There is still plenty of time for some good wins.

Yeah, players that have taken on the personality of their lazy coach. They go hand in hand.

Stop trying to make us feel better with false hope...

Wow. Head is in the sand. Even if we win on last drive I saw all I needed but we didn't. 2 minute drill is practiced every day or at least it should be, and we are across the 50 with 2:11 seconds left and a timeout left. Epic failure that everybody deserves blames on but mostly the coaches

Hey, thanks for straightening that out for me. I watched it again and you are so totally right!
And sound totally like a jerk.

Sidebar: You clearly never played sports and especially didn't coach. When you lose a game like that, you look at the other 100 plays throughout the game, not just the one with 1 second left on the clock.
Uh, the point of the thread is looking at the plays in the final drive, not just the one with 1 second left on the clock.

The irony....

So basically you're saying it's 100% on the players, but the coaches screwed up some. Can't have it both ways, bro. Which is it?

Copied, courtesy of tigerMike...

Later in the drive, we were scrambling around, and everyone is going to post about that sequence. But earlier in the drive killed us. Here we go...
(2:56) 1-10 LSU25: Dropped pass
(2:50) 2-10 LSU25: 12 yard scramble, not OOB [clock stopped at 2:42 to move chains]
(2:25 -17secs later-) 1-10 LSU37: incomplete
(2:18) 2-10 LSU37: complete to Dural, turns inside instead of OOB [clock stopped at 2:11 to move chains]
(1:56 -15secs later-) 1-10 AU47: 2 yard completion to LF7 [tackled at 1:49]
TIMEOUT at 1:43 -6secs later-
(1:43) 2-8 AU45: Incomplete to LF7, he's injured
(1:38) 3-8 AU45: Etling scrambles for 1st down, gets OOB
(1:30) 1-10 AU27: Complete to Dural, sketchy whether he should've gotten OOB call [play ends at 1:23, ref runs in at 1:20 winding arm, 1:13 showing LF7 WALKING onto the field]
(1:03 -20secs later-) 2-1 AU18: incomplete, no interference ruled uncatchable (disagree)
So, BEFORE the final minute of the game we burned 58 seconds between plays with the clock running. You don't expect them to snap the ball the instant the clock starts after a first down, but jeez. we should have easily had :40 more in game clock to work with, even without changing timeout usage or anything else.
Eat it, bitches.

That's the beauty, in THIS GAME, you can.
You can argue calls and plays and coaching and mis-steps all day long, but none of it matters.
Bottom line is if the players had a sense of hurry in the hurry-up offense, they throw the final TD with plenty of seconds left on the clock.

And whose job is it to instill that 'sense'. And where is the fear of their position being in jeopardy if they don't display that 'sense'
And why have all those that have left LSU, sensing that there is no 'urgency' being taught being told "U Smart"?
